Anybody who spends time on their feet can understand the soreness and pain that can come from exerting yourself, or even just standing for too long. If you’ve seen me shuffling around at CES the last two years you’ll know that I know that feeling all too well. You can buy insoles for your shoes, but those don’t always do the trick. You can order custom orthotics from your podiatrist, but those are expensive. Maybe there’s third way. ExoSOLS are a custom-fit orthotic that are created, customized, and ordered via the SOLS iOS app. The company wants you to be comfortable on your feet.
I should be getting my hands… well, feet… on a pair of ExoSOLS insoles soon, so my impressions will be forthcoming. In the meantime, I was able to poke around through the SOLS iOS app to see what the ordering experience is like. I’ve mentioned iOS a couple of times, and yes, the app is currently iOS only.
The ordering process is honestly very straightforward. You’ll answer a few questions, select options based on the types of activities you’re involved in, where you’d like your feet to be more comfortable, etc. After you’ve answered all of the applicable questions you’ll need a few more things to continue. Mainly a white piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper (for size reference) and a friend to take some pictures of your feet. The app will help you through the necessary pictures, and then you’ll be on your way. ExoSOLS can be ordered for $99 directly through the app, and once finalized, orders should start to ship within six business days.
For anyone thinking that $99 might be too expensive, consider that some of the best non-custom orthotic shoe inserts generally cost between $75 and $100, with custom-fit inserts costing significantly more depending on your insurance. If ExoSOLS can deliver on the experience that they promise (and I’ll be sure to provide a fair review once I’ve had a chance to try out the product) then $99 is honestly a steal.
