Xbox One Dashboard Update Bringing More Social, Game, And Device Updates

It’s been seven months since Microsoft introduced the New Xbox One Experience last November which radically changed the Xbox One Dashboard. Now with E3 just around the corner, the company is teasing the next Xbox One Dashboard Update which will be coming to Xbox One consoles starting this summer. Major Nelson (Larry Hryb), Director of Programming for Xbox Live, sat down with Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, to discuss the upcoming changes. Check it out below:

In case you can’t watch the video now or want the text version, the update hits those who are enrolled in the Xbox Dashboard Preview program today and will roll out to all Xbox One consoles this summer. If you are currently enrolled in the preview program, you’ll have to go into your settings on the Xbox Dashboard Preview app and make sure you are registered in the new dashboard preview program.

Some of the features that will be rolling out in the preview program and in the Xbox app (beta) in the weeks ahead include:

Xbox One

  • Cortana on Xbox One: users in the US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain will get the Cortana experience first, and it will work on both headsets and Kinect
  • New Game Collection: an updated Game Collection interface will make it easier to find and launch games, as well as access the Ready to Install tab
  • Facebook Friend Finder on Xbox One: currently available on the Xbox App, you’ll be able to link your Facebook and Xbox Live accounts to get more friend suggestions
  • Improved Sharing on Xbox One: fewer steps will be required to share your favourite screenshots and GameDVR clips

Xbox app and Windows 10 Gaming

  • Edit and share GameDVR clips on any video editor
  • Updated GameDVR management
  • 60fps game clip recording with the Game bar
  • Share to Twitter from Xbox app
  • Windows Game bar improved full-screen support

Xbox One and Xbox app

  • Top PC games show up on Xbox Live
  • Xbox and Windows Store convergence
  • More personal Activity feed
