Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm has been going strong over the past year since leaving open beta, with regular updates, new Heroes, skins, and mounts being added regularly. Blizzard has released another “In Development” video showcasing two new Heroes — Gul’dan and Auriel, as well as some new skins and mounts coming soon to the Nexus.
UPDATE (07/05/2016 3:45pm ET): Blizzard has just released a video spotlight for Gul’dan, we’ve added it below! From the video, we now know that he’ll be a ranged assassin with interesting mana and health regen abilities.
Check the video out below.
It’s a bit surprising that Gul’dan wasn’t released a bit sooner, considering he’s one of the characters in the recently released Warcraft movie. For those unfamiliar with Gul’dan, Blizzard describes him as:
Born on Draenor, the homeworld of the orcs, Gul’dan was once a member of the mystical Shadowmoon clan. Utterly obsessed with obtaining power, Gul’dan agreed to a secret alliance with the Burning Legion, a destructive army from beyond the stars. He drank demon blood and altered the fate of his people forever. The blood transformed his visage into something hideous, bent and twisted by demonic energies. With his lieutenants, he formed the nefarious Shadow Council.
The Archangel Auriel, on the other hand, joins Heroes of the Storm from the Diablo games. As is told in a tome found in Act IV of Diablo III:
It is through the archangel Auriel that the power of hope flows into the fabric of creation. her eternal light illuminates even the darkest souls. With Malthael’s departure, it falls to Auriel to hold the Angiris Council together. Should her light ever fade, all Heaven would fall to despair.
In case you don’t have time to currently watch the video, the list of new additions currently in development include:
- Master Auriel
- Master Gul’dan
- Balespider Gul’dan
- Demonic Auriel
- Mystic Kingdoms Arthas
- Spellbreaker Johanna
