Rockstar Games makes most Red Dead Redemption DLC free

Xbox One gamers were greeted with awesome news this week when Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption would be joining the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program. The company has gone one step further and made most of the Red Dead Redemption DLC content absolutely free for download as the game joins the program.

The base game can be purchased digitally for $10.49 (a steal if you ask me), and Xbox Live Gold members get a further discount bringing the game to only $7.49. The only DLC content that is not currently listed as free are the “Undead Nightmare Pack,” the “War Horse,” and the “Golden Guns Weapon Pack.” The first will set you back another $9.99 and which features a new single player campaign, while the other two are priced at $1.00 each.

The list of free DLC packs include:

  • “Legends and Killers Pack”
  • “Outlaws to the End Co-op Mission Pack”
  • “Liars and Cheats Pack”
  • “Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack”
  • “Hunting and Trading Pack”

These free packs extend the base Red Dead Redemption game even further, adding new multiplayer content, challenges, weapons, new co-op missions, Poker and dice games, and discounts on guns and ammo as well as hunting bonuses with new outfits.

Have you re-visited Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox One yet? Let us know what you think about making most of the Red Dead Redemption DLC free for players in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
