Evan Blass is the exposed leaker known as @evleaks and he’s showing off the new HTC Bolt which is rumored to be missing a headphone jack. Motorola and Apple seem to have started a trend here and it’s certainly going to continue to be a hotly debated subject. The HTC Bolt looks very much like the HTC 10 but we don’t have specifications for the device at this time. If HTC is going to start removing headphone jacks from their devices, we have to wonder if the upcoming Google Pixel phones may also be missing them.

The headphone jack removal from the iPhone continues to be a hotly debated issue, even among tech writers such as Nilay Patel and John Gruber. The two had a battle of words on Twitter yesterday with multiple Twitter posts each posing arguments about the headphone jack.
The Verge is really hanging their collective hat on this no-headphone-jack thing.

If the rumor is true that the HTC Bolt will be missing its headphone jack, this would make it the third modern smartphone to do so. From our perspective, it seems consumers aren’t too thrilled about the move but Apple hasn’t really given anyone a choice. We’ll see how well iPhone sales do and hopefully get reaction from regular users on the removal of the headphone jack and if they like it or not. From social media posts we’ve seen, there has been a mixed bag of reactions. It will be interesting to see if more manufacturers embrace dropping the headphone jack and the conversation it will create.
What do you think? Do you think more OEM’s will drop the headphone jack? How do you feel about that?
