Supposedly there was a rumor back in August from KGI stating that there will be three new iPad Pro models coming out in spring sometime next year, but today Macotakara reported similarities to what KGI has. To clarify on “new,” it’s more of a refresh for two iPads and a name change for the third. The iPad 12.9″ will be refreshed, the current 9.7″ iPad Pro will supposedly get a bump in screen size to 10.1 inches, and the iPad Mini 4 will be given the name iPad Pro, but will keep the same screen dimension of 7.9 inches.
The 12.9″ iPad Pro will also receive an upgrade to a 12 megapixel camera and True Tone flash, with a True Tone display. Nothing was mentioned about the 9.7″ iPad Pro, other than the screen size being increased, which would also ale the device 1cm longer and 0.5cm wider. The iPad Pro 7.9″ as of now is the only thing that we know of that will have some changes to it.
iPad mini 4 will renew as iPad Pro (7.9-inch), get Smart Connector, and change into the specification of 4 speakers audio. Also, the iSight camera of 12 million pixels, True Tone flash, and True Tone display correspondence to Display P3 [DCI-P3 wider color gamut aka True Tone display] seem to be adopted.
Right now the main question is will Apple keep the 3.5mm headphone jack on these new iPads or do away with them as they did with the iPhone 7/Plus?
With Apple reportedly refreshing their iPad Pro line with a few new changes that haven’t been announced yet, don’t forget to take all this with a grain of salt or two.
