Wonder Woman trailer released

As was teased several days ago, this morning saw the release of the newest Wonder Woman trailer. It’s still early, but based on what I’ve seen so far this looks like it could break DC’s recent streak of futility in theaters. If you read my Batman v Superman review, you may remember me saying that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was one of the few bright spots in the movie, and that I was all aboard the Gal Gadot/WW hype train. While I was cautiously optimistic about Suicide Squad, and it was at the very least entertaining, Wonder Woman already looks as though it’s in a league of its own. Could DC have finally figured out how to make a good comic book movie?

We’re treated to a bit more plot this time around, and it seems that Diana may be reminiscing about the past and the story that we’ll see unfolding. We’ve already seen Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash near Diana’s home of Themyscira, and the confusion that unfolds when a man enters the entirely female population. Trevor explains here how he’s trying to stop the war, and it’s made clear that the antagonists aren’t going to be fighting fair.

We get to see even more iconic Wonder Woman action, with loads of bullets ricocheting off of her indestructible bracelets, Diana kicking all sorts of ass, and generally not fitting in among “civilized” society. The trailer ends with a bit more levity, as we see more of her struggles to blend into her new surroundings.

Wonder Woman will be released on June 9th, 2017 and while I was cautiously optimistic about Suicide Squad, I am actively excited about Wonder Woman.
