Design

The S100C is a pretty small guy, but don’t let that turn you away because there’s more to it than it being compact. There’s only one speaker grill which is a hard plastic to keep anything from damaging it. All around the rest of the device is rugged with rubber, so if by accident it is dropped, the impact won’t be as bad because it’s meant to withstand some damage. The controls are on top allowing you to turn on/off the unit, play/pause/answer calls, and change the volume. The Micro USB charging port, aux port, and reset option are covered on the left-hand side so water and dust don’t reach those ports. Lastly, the top right corner has two holes so you can put the strap that’s included in the box on the speaker if you’re going to be carrying it on your wrist or backpack while you hike or bike.

Ease of Use

When first turning on the BT speaker, it has a few sounds letting you know it’s on, but it does not automatically turn on Bluetooth mode. You will have to press the power on button again, which will make a sound and have a flashing red and blue light letting you know it’s ready to be paired. After being paired to a device another series of beeps will let you know it’s been paired. It’s confusing at first considering most Bluetooth speakers are ready to pair when turned on, but it wasn’t hard to get the speaker to pair to my phone afterward. As far as controls go, they’re pretty easy to use. Power on turns the unit on and off after holding the button down for about three (3) seconds. Pressing the phone button will play/pause the music that is currently playing, and for the volume controls, you will need to hold those buttons down to change the volume.

Speakers

Every wireless speaker comes with its own output than can range from 2W to 10W and higher. CRDC Life put a 5W output in the S100C and it doesn’t sound bad but doesn’t sound the best. It’s not because of the 5W output, but there isn’t really too much to the sound. There’s not much bass and that could be a turn off for some while others may like that and while the volume does get loud and stay clear it’s not the best sound I’ve heard out of all the Bluetooth speakers I’ve reviewed.

Call Quality

When making calls the person on the other end was barely able to hear me unless I had the speaker close to my face which isn’t something I want to do every time I get a phone call. I might as well use my phone if it’s going to work like that. I tested about 5 different phone calls to people and it all ended with the same result of me barely being understood. So, if you don’t mind carrying the speaker around with you up to your face feel free to do that but don’t expect to hold a conversation with someone while connected to the speaker.

Battery Life

CRDC Life states the battery life will last you up to 10 hours thanks to the 2600mAh battery but remember that battery life will vary depending on the environment and usage. When testing the battery life I was able to get an accumulated 8-9 hours of usage with the volume being around 75% and kept it in my room the entire time and not anywhere else.

Price/Value

The original price for the S100C wireless speaker runs for $49.99 which definitely isn’t expensive, but it’s on sale for $22.99USD and thanks for CRDC Life, we have 25% off codes to bring the price down even more. With that code, you’d be paying $17.25USD and that’s much better than paying $23. Just use the code CRDC100B before February 28th and take advantage of saving some money off of a new Bluetooth speaker.

Wrap Up

Overall, the CRDC Life S100C isn’t a bad speaker especially for the price of $17.25USD (with code). It’s a good deal on a Bluetooth speaker and combining that with the rugged design and battery life, it should be your next purchase as either an entry level speaker or a backup that you would take out on the road with you.
