Music is a huge part of our lives. Just listening to some of our favorite tunes can improve our mood or transport us to another place or time. Grace Digital is a company that understands the varying ways that people access their music, and today they’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Mondo+ speaker. The Grace Digital Mondo+ is an internet radio that not only has Chromecast Audio support but will handle your music in nearly any way you can dish it out.

UPDATE: 3/15/2017 Grace Digital has surpassed their goal of $50,000 with 15 days left in the campaign. To celebrate clearing their goal, they’ve announced a new red color option for the Mondo+. They’re also excited to announce that early bird backers should begin receiving their Mondo+ speakers as early as April! The Mondo+ is an Internet Radio that will connect to nearly anything that plays audio. You can connect via Bluetooth 4.1, tune in to one of the 30,000+ pre-programmed radio stations from around the world, plug in a USB drive and the Mondo+ will pull audio files from there, cast via integrated Chromecast Audio, heck, you can even plug via the AUX port if you’re so inclined. With Google Home and Google Assistant, you can even control your music via voice commands. Combine all of those options with multi-room audio support, integrated 7-day alarm clock, and available battery pack and you’ll be able to take your Mondo+ almost anywhere and listen to almost anything.

All of those connections don’t do you any good if the speaker doesn’t sound good. Grace Digital prides themselves on the sound that the Mondo+ is able to achieve. They’ve integrated MaxxAudio technology from Waves Inc. which they say gives Mondo+ room-filling sound on par with speakers from companies like Bose and Polk Audio. For anyone interested, the speakers have the following specifications:

  • High powered class D digital 12-watt amplifier
  • Custom 3” woofer and 1” tweeter speaker drivers
  • Additional Specs: 89db S/N ratio; 60Hz – 20Hz ±3dB

The Kickstarter campaign is live now, and if you’re one of the first 100 backers you can in on the super early bird special which will get you a Mondo+ for $125USD, which is $75 off of the expected retail price. Early bird pricing is set at $150, while early bird with the optional battery pack is $174. If you don’t get in on any of the early bird specials, you can still get your Mondo+ for $25 off the MSRP.

Grace Digital Unveils the Mondo+ (Plus): the World’s First Internet Radio with Chromecast built-in

Combining internet radio, advanced alarm clock, UPnP media player, and Chromecast built-in for audio, the Mondo+ (Plus) is the all-in-one radio users will not be able to live without

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – March 1, 2017 – Grace Digital Inc., the leading manufacturer of award-winning Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, portable and home audio systems, unveils the world’s first internet radio with Chromecast built-in for audio. Incorporating technology provided by Google, the Mondo + (plus) supports all of the Chromecast audio services, along with on-board internet radio services. You can even control the audio streaming onto a Mondo + via a Google Home device.

The Mondo+ is compact, at 10.5”x5.8”x5.4” and 2.4 pounds.

With Chromecast built in, you can stream music/tunes/podcasts/playlists to the Mondo+ from more than 100 music apps by simply tapping the Cast button on your favorite Chromecast-enabled apps on your phone, tablet or laptop. There is a wide range of supported apps including Pandora, Spotify, Slacker radio, Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, NPR, and Tunein, to name just a few. The multi-room audio feature allows users to group one or more Mondo+ radios with any Chromecast built-in audio device, and stream to one or all devices simultaneously. People who own Google Home devices can even control Chromecast-enabled apps to play, pause, and skip on their Mondo+ using the voice command “Ok Google” from the comfort of their couch. Along with an easy-to-read 3.5-inch color display – showcasing playlists, stations and album art – the Mondo+ serves its users with luxury and convenience.

The Mondo+, being no exception to the high-end audio line-up in all Grace Digital products, features MaxxAudio technology from Waves Inc. and a high-powered class D digital amplifier for room-filling sound. Equipped with a multi-functional USB port, the Mondo+ serves as a power bank for smart devices, or as an UPnP media player to listen to your saved audio files. Integrating Bluetooth 4.1 to function as a standard in-home speaker, the Mondo+ is anything but standard.

The Grace Digital Mondo+ will be $199 and is available for pre-order now for as little as $149 on Kickstarter. The Mondo+ will begin shipping to backers April 2017. For more information on Grace Digital’s upcoming products follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
