Design
There isn’t a whole lot to really say about a dual USB wall outlet, is there? The adapter is a rectangle approximately 2” x 2” 1” with a very slight bulge near the front closest to the USB ports (for easier plug removal). The iClever logo and name mark are printed on one side. The front includes the two USB ports, both of which are equipped with iClever’s SmartID technology. The ports have a light blue glow when plugged in. The back has a folding two-prong plug that, well, folds into the body of the adapter. Nothing too flashy here, but there really doesn’t need to be anything flashy to have a functional wall adapter.
Ease of Use
Unfold plug, plug into wall, plug up to two USB cables into the BoostCube, and then plug nearly any device that charges via USB and is in need of charging into the aforementioned USB cables. However, iClever suggests that this BoostCube is not compatible with the iPod nano, iPod Classic, HP TouchPad, Dell Venue 11 Pro, and Asus Tablets. There’s really nothing more to it. It’s just that easy. Technology doesn’t have to be difficult.
Performance
You’ll be able to charge two of your devices at up to 2.4A. That means no “charging rapidly” on the Nexus 6P or other USB-C devices, but for most anything else you’ll charge at the fastest available rate that your device can handle. Even without that mythical “charging rapidly” status, you’re going to charge quickly enough if you’re charging overnight, or even using this charger at your desk at work. The BoostCube includes safety systems including over-current, over voltage, and over-temperature protections as well.
Price/Value
Ten bucks. That’s the price you’ll pay. That’s a pretty standard price for a two port USB charger, though not all of those chargers include folding charging prongs, or the diminutive size of this iClever BoostCube. This is a nice charger at a nice price.
Wrap Up
The iClever BoostCube is a quality offering that will charge your devices quickly. For only $10 it’s really worth a look if you need a spare wall charger for work, or travel, or just for another part of your house. Check it out if it fits your charging needs.
