The rumored Amazon Echo touchscreen device gets leaked

|

Last November we reported that Amazon was rumored to be working on an Amazon Echo with a touchscreen. Home hardware based digital assistants, especially the Amazon Echo, are becoming increasingly popular and Amazon obviously thinks a touchscreen is needed. In our previous report, the rumor was that this particular device was aiming to be more premium than the current devices on the market. The build quality, as well as the sound quality, were said to be important points Amazon would be working to make better. It’s not clear to us that a device such as this is really needed or even wanted but Amazon seems to think it is. Noted tech leaker, Evan Blass, has given us a glimpse at this new Amazon Echo below.

With the touchscreen added, you’ll be able to interact with this new Echo visually rather than just audibly but I do have my doubts on just how many people are aching for a device like this. Don’t get me wrong, I do see the applications for adding a touchscreen to the digital assistant. I just don’t see where people are going to rush to replace their tablets and smartphones with this device. However, that could very well change if Amazon prices this device in the impulse buy range and releases it during the prime time gift buying season.

Of course, I’m just speculating and we really don’t know a whole lot more than what @evleaks shows in his leaked photo. It will be interesting to see what comes from this and if Amazon is going to make this an affordable device or a more premium priced device.
