Design

The EasySMX QY19 wireless earbuds have a pretty standard shape to them. The default ear tip is a clear silicone with a black core. The bud then angles back and out to the rest of the earbud body. Just past the ear tip you’ll see the L/R indicator followed by the removable and adjustable ear hook. The earbud body is then a rough oval with the EasySMX name mark in white with a small chrome ring around the outer edge of the bud.

The wires connecting the buds to each other (since as a reminder, wireless means no wires connecting to your device whereas wire-free means no wires whatsoever) extend from the front corner of the bottom of each bud. Approximately four inches down the cord from the right earbud is the control box and mic. From top to bottom here you’ll find an LED indicator light, the + (volume up / track up) button, the middle multifunction button, and the – (volume down / track down) button. The multifunction button really lives up to its name, acting as the power/pairing button as well as play/pause, and finally answer/ignore/hang up/mute for call controls. On the side of the control box is the microUSB charging input, while the usual regulatory information is printed on the back. One minor improvement idea would be to have some sort of differentiation on the buttons. Even just a small bump on the multifunction button would be appreciated. It wasn’t super difficult to figure out which button was which without looking, but it could have been just a bit easier with some small additions.

EasySMX QY19 Review Ear Tip Detail
The default ear tips and ear hooks should be adequate for most users.

These are a comfortable pair of earbuds, with a few pairs of eartips and ear hooks to ensure you’ll be able to find the right fit for you. The cord is meant to rest around the back of your neck. This is nice in case you need to remove an earbud in order to hear someone, as it will just fall down to your chest with the cord keeping it roughly in place. If you have both earbuds out, they will rest nicely on your chest with the cord keeping them roughly in place.

Ease of Use

At this point I’m confident that most of us can connect a Bluetooth accessory in our sleep. These EasySMX earbuds are no different. Simply power on, navigate to your Bluetooth controls, pick them out from the list of available devices, rock and roll. Once paired, simply turn the earbuds on and they’ll connect to your phone. A nice lady will chime in to tell you that the power is on, as well as when the earbuds have paired successfully. These earbuds are able to pair with two devices at once, so the first device paired will be “Phone 1” in the various voice prompts.

These earbuds will stay pretty securely in your ears as well. I did find that they’d slip out just a little bit if I was sweaty, but not enough to fall out. A quick push will get them right back into place. Otherwise for general listening they really didn’t budge.

The in-line controls could use some sort of tactile cues to help differentiate the buttons.

Sound

I put any headphones that I review through a set playlist of songs. I have a pretty diverse set of music in that setlist, with everything from pop to heavy metal, jazz, dubstep, EDM, punk, and more, each with specific things that I want to listen for. This allows me to have a consistent point of comparison with which to listen.

Wireless earbuds have made incredible improvements in the past few years, where even a very reasonably priced pair of earbuds can have pretty good sound. The EasySMX wireless earbuds have continued that tradition. You can probably guess that you aren’t going to have a huge bass sound here, since it’s still pretty rare to find earbuds with powerful bass (though it is definitely possible). You do, however, get enough bass, which helps prop up the mids and highs nicely.

Mids and highs come through loud and clear with very little distortion or other audio artifacts even at louder volumes. The overall sound was pretty clear and I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. If you want to tweak your equalizer settings in your music app you can improve things slightly, though even on the base settings you’ll have a pretty solid experience.

Reception/Call Quality

I was a bit worried with the mic and control box basically sitting behind my ear, but callers were able to hear me without issue. Worst case, you can always flip the cord around to the front to have the mic closer to your mouth if necessary. From my end, callers sounded clear and there were no issues understanding each other.

Battery Life

EasySMX suggests that these earbuds should get around 5 ½ hours of battery life. I was usually able to get at least 6 with the volume at about 50%. Your mileage will, of course vary based on your listening volume as well as standby time, but these earbuds should definitely get you through all but your longest and most grueling workouts. They’ll also get you through most of the workday if that use case is more your style.

Price/Value

The Amazon listing suggests that these earbuds have a price of $89.99 USD, though they’re currently on “sale” for $25.99. I’d probably have a more difficult time recommending these headphones at $90, but for $26 you’re going to find plenty of value here.
