Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer released. Get ready for war

Let me just get this out of the way first… Holy crap… If this trailer is any indication, the delayed and shortened 7th season of Game of Thrones is going to be one heck of a ride. Just released by HBO, the official trailer for Season 7 gives us quite a lot to think about ahead of the season opener on July 16th.

Where to start? Cercei seems to be awfully optimistic about her chances considering the forces aligning against her. She states that she and Jaime are the last Lannisters left, the last ones that count at least. Could she actually be right? There have been rumors about Tyrion’s heritage, but he’s also very clearly not getting along with the rest of his family at the moment. Will Cercei still be so smug when she has the Dothraki horde, an army of Unsullied, and a trio of freaking dragons breathing down her neck?

Speaking of not getting along with the Lannisters, we see pretty much everybody else gearing up for war against at least one foe. Well, most of the swords seem to be aimed at the Lannisters, though Jon Snow and the rest of the bunch up North seem to realize that the real war isn’t in the South. That doesn’t mean that there won’t still be war in the South. Let me just say, if the clips shown here are only a glimpse of what to come, I can’t wait to see the Dothraki horde ride into battle. The dude standing and jumping off of his moving horse? Craziness.

We get a few quick shots of Arya, who appears to have made it at least closer to home. There’s lots of snow, and as our buddy Ned Stark always said, winter is, in fact, coming. We learned at the end of last season that it wasn’t just coming, it’s here.
