Design
The NuForce BE2 headphones design isn’t ground breaking by any means, it’s simple. There is nothing flashy here, just nice solid feeling housings that look clean and can be held together by magnets. The cable is a nice flat design and that’s a welcome addition. The inline remote is nice and substantial, not small and hard to operate, playback controls and, as one would expect, the MicroUSB port are located here. The cable is a decent length, though I think most all wireless headphones could use a slightly longer cable.
The headphones come with 3 pairs of traditional round ear tips and 1 pair of Optoma’s SpinFit tips. These special ear tips are supposed to give you a really great fit but I found I preferred the traditional tips instead. This is most likely personal preference and you’ll just have to test them all out to find your preferred fit. The headphones fit nicely in my ears and I never felt they would fall out. Overall the design is nice, understated, not flashy, just functional.
Ease of Use
The pairing process is a super easy that works great on both Android and iOS. Just hold the power button for 4 seconds and pairing mode is activated. Find the NuForce BE2 headphones in your Bluetooth list and connect. Your device should remember the headphones anytime you power them back up and it should auto-connect. The inline remote is basically universal controlling track forward/back, volume up/down, play/pause, and Bluetooth/power. These are very easy to use.
Sound
The NuForce BE2 headphones have a very balanced soundstage, which is what I prefer. The low end is certainly there though, it’s not overdone but you can hear it jump out every so often. Clean is another descriptor I would use for the sound. Nothing is muddy here and even at high volumes, I found no distortion and the drivers held up well. Overall the sound is just clean, pure, and surprising coming from $49USD headphones.
Reception/Call Quality
Typical Bluetooth reception here, 35-40 feet and you’ll start losing connectivity. Call quality is good as well, especially when you get the proper fit from whatever tips work best for you.
Battery Life
Battery life is advertised at 10 hours and that will, of course, vary on volume. I found I got an average of 9 and a half hours with the volume set to around 60% most of the time.
Price/Value
The Optoma NuForce BE2 headphones are priced at $49USD and that’s really a great price for what you get here. Yes, there are more expensive headphones that sound a bit better but these are really top notch for what you pay.
Wrap Up
If you’re looking for a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are sweat proof, are built well, are priced right, and sound really good for the price. Then the NuForce Be2’s are worth your time.
