One Rockstar game that I really enjoyed on the Xbox 360 and am actually thrilled to see making a return is L.A. Noire. That’s right, the 1940’s detective thriller is making a return to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as the Nintendo Switch and the HTC Vive for a VR version. The VR version will be called L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files and includes seven of the original cases built specifically for VR.
Set against the seedy and violent underbelly of 1940’s Los Angeles, L.A. Noire is the story of decorated veteran and newly minted detective Cole Phelps as he investigates an escalating series of cases inspired by real-world crimes. Each successfully solved case brings Phelps greater success, but also brings him closer to the dark criminal heart of post-war L.A.
The console version includes the original game and all downloadable content, as well as visual, technical, and other enhancements. With new cinematic camera angles, high-resolution textures, native 1080P for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and 4K for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the game is sure to look visually stunning. The Nintendo Switch version, yes, Rockstar is bringing it to Nintendo’s latest console as well, includes Switch specific enhancements. These include a special Joy-Con mode with gesture-based controls and HD rumble. Touch screen controls will also be available for those playing in portable mode.
There’s no question Rockstar Games makes some of the best games around, and if you didn’t play L.A. Noire the first time around, you owe it to yourself (in my opinion anyways) to give it a go when it is re-released on November 14th.
Are you looking forward to playing, or replaying, L.A. Noire on the current generation of consoles? What about the virtual reality version? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
