Lenovo is celebrating 25 years of the ThinkPad brand with a limited number of ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 laptops. The ThinkPad was born at Yamato Labs in Japan and the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition is being made to celebrate twenty-five years of design and engineering innovation. Lenovo is calling the Anniversary Editon 25 “a modern incarnation” of the classic 700C ThinkPad design. Of course, there is modern performance packed in including an Intel® Core™ i7-7500U processor with discrete NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics and a 14-inch full HD display with touch.

But Lenovo wanted to keep some of that classic 700C look and feel intact, so you’ll find features such as the ThinkPad Classic keyboard, dedicated volume buttons, multiple status LEDs, and a multicolor logo. The 700C was first introduced way back on October 5th, 1992 and its design was inspired by the Japanese Bento Box.

“From the original 700C to the latest X1 Series, ThinkPad has proved it can enable business transformation and offer customers uncompromised mobility,” he says. “Our team of engineers imagines a future world where ThinkPad creates new segments and further enrichens user experiences as technology becomes more embedded in our lives.”

To this day, anytime I hear the ThinkPad name I think of business, it’s what these laptops were built for. While that still remains true, ThinkPads are making their way into the consumer market. These machines aren’t just all business anymore. We’ve reviewed a few ThinkPad’s and we think they make splendid machines for just about everyone.

We want to congratulate Lenovo on 25 years of the iconic ThinkPad name and wish them 25 more great years making these robust and capable business class laptops.

ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 is available in limited quantities in select countries and starts at $1899USD. Please be sure to visit Lenovo’s website for more information on which countries will be able to order these.
