The Grey is a Star Wars fan film worth checking out

We all love Star Wars here at Techaeris, and it’s pretty clear that plenty of other people love it too. We dress as our favorite characters for Halloween (or year round in the case of fans like the 501st Legion), and getting to experience new official stories in the Star Wars universe has been amazing. The official movies aren’t the only things out there though. Sure, Disney may have done away with the Expanded Universe when they purchased Lucasfilm, but intrepid fans still love to visit these characters. This Star Wars fan film was created by a group of students at Full Sail University, and in its brief runtime it follows the pursuit of a… morally questionable force-sensitive user. The title The Grey hints that this is someone who may not fit in with the Jedi order, but similarly does not belong with the Sith. Check out a brief overview before watching the full video below:

‘The Grey’ follows Vader and the Emperor at the height of their power. The reach of the Empire’s authority has stretched across the galaxy. On the remote planet of Florrum, a man in grey robes sits in a dark corner of a quiet cantina drinking alone. The man in the robes is a Grey Jedi, belonging to neither the Jedi Order or the Sith.

Sure, there are some areas that can be nit-picked here, but for a student production from start to finish there is also quite a lot to enjoy. The only thing that honestly bugged me just a little bit was Vader’s breathing, it just wasn’t right. Otherwise, these students tell an interesting story in this short film with some pretty good fight choreography.
