Back in the days of the Xbox 360, Microsoft started touting their console as a central media unit for the house. They tried to continue that thinking over with the Xbox One launch but for the most part the focus as of late has been geared more towards gaming. That hasn’t meant they’ve abandoned bringing new media options to the consoles, recently replacing Groove Music with the more popular Spotify. Today, the company announced that Amazon Prime Video will be available at launch on the Xbox One X and is available to Amazon Prime members as well as new customers.
The Amazon Prime Video app is available to download globally on your Xbox One console and will give you access to popular Prime Video exclusive shows like The Tick, The Grand Tour, The Main in the High Castle, American Gods, and more. Some Prime Video titles are also available in 4K UHD and can take advantage of the Xbox One S and Xbox One X 4K output for higher resolution entertainment.
As mentioned above, existing Amazon Prime customers can utilize the service at no additional charge and new subscribers can sign up for a 30-day trial — which may just be long enough to binge through that Amazon show you may be missing out on. The service is available in over 200 countries around the world including the U.S., Canada, Australia, countries across Europe, and more.
