PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds gets Xbox Game Preview release date

First announced at E3 as an Xbox One console exclusive, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to the Xbox Game Preview program ahead of its final release early next year. If you’ve played PUBG on the PC though, don’t expect the same experience out of the gate.

While the PC version is getting it’s version 1.0 launch this December, Chang Han Kim, CEP of PUBG Corp., states that the company is taking the same community-driven focus that they’ve taken with PUBG on the PC.

“We’re approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we’ve taken with the game on PC. As a result, the ultimate battle royale experience that fans play on Xbox One will be slightly different than what players know today on PC.”

Even though both versions have separate roadmaps, the goal is to have the PC and Xbox One versions align with the same features and functionality as soon as possible. In addition, players of the Xbox One version will get access to three limited-edition cosmetic packs that will only be available as in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version. The PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack, and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack will also be the only items that the game will have available for purchase during the preview.

“We’re super excited to be able to bring these to Xbox One fans who have been eagerly awaiting the game as a special thank you for your patience and passion for PUBG. We’ll be sharing more details on timing and pricing in the weeks ahead.”

PUBG will be available starting on December 12th and those attending Paris Games Week will have a chance to experience the PUBG battle royale experience firsthand.
