Bungie shows off new Destiny 2 weapon changes, adds new vendor rewards

If you’ve been paying attention, then you’re fully aware of Destiny 2 weapon changes coming in next week’s expansion, “Curse of Osiris.” Most importantly, weapons will receive a new tier. That’s right, we will now see a new masterworks tier. Starting Dec. 12, masterwork weapons will be live and here’s what they offer:

  • Track and display the number of kills with that weapon (with choice between total count or Crucible-only count)
  • Generate orbs for you and your allies on multi-kills
  • Add weapon stat bonuses that are selected randomly from a small pool and are re-rollable

To snag a masterwork weapon, you’ll need to be over 250 light. If you find a masterwork weapon you don’t want, you’ll be able to dismantle it for materials. You can use the materials then make your favorite legendary into a new Masterwork weapon. Also, if you like to raid, or if you run Trials of the Nine, you’ll have a higher chance of snagging these weapons. Bungie plans to bring the masterwork idea into other gear in the future.

Xur and his wonderful wares

In other news, Legendary shards will now become more useful. Xur, everyone’s favorite (or not) exotic wares peddler, will now sell a new fated engram. The fated engram will give you an exotic you don’t have in your collection. This is a boon for exotic collectors out there who have missing weapons and gear from their collection.

On top of that, the three of coins consumable is back.  Rather than having a stacking effect like in the first game, the new three of coins will last for four hours. Unlike the original game, there is no need to stack or reapply the consumable. There’s also no limit on the amount you can carry, and they will cost legendary shards.

Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Bungie’s future plans for Destiny 2. Be sure to check out the source link for everything that will be coming the player’s way over the life of the game. You can bet — and it’s a safe one — bet that there will be other Destiny 2 weapon changes in the future.
