Eddie Zarick is back with an Xbox One X laptop: The XBOOK ONE X

Eddie Zarick is a name that might not ring any bells to most people but hardcore gamers are definitely familiar with his console mods. His last project that we reported on here at Techaeris was the PLAYBOX, a custom PS4/Xbox One combo console in a laptop format. Zarick is back, this time with the XBOOK ONE X — a portable Xbox One X laptop with a 21.5″ 1080p screen, built-in audio, keyboard, and more.

On the front of the system we have 5 buttons for controlling all of the functions of the LCD. It is an actual View Sonic computer monitor, so you can adjust the audio, screen settings ext right from the on board buttons. You also have the disk tray, power, disk eject and controller sync buttons as well. There is also one convenient USB on the front of the system. On the back of the unit you will be able to use HDMI Out (if ordered) to put the image on your big screen when you are at home in 4k! Next to those is going to be your power in, 2 USB ports (only one if you order the keyboard option), Ethernet and optical audio out. You only need one power plug to power this system on! Unfortunately there is no batteries in my systems due to the fact the XBOX is not designed to run on batteries and is very power hungry!

While his first couple of console mods were custom, one-off, builds, Zarick is building the XBOOK ONE X and a couple others for sale — at a pretty significant price point. As he mentions on his site, having him build you an XBOOK ONE X will take 2-3 weeks (perhaps longer if there are others in line before you) and will cost $2,495USD + $150 S&H to the lower 48 states. You’ll have to put down a $1,000USD deposit to secure your order, and if you are an APO or international customer you’ll have to contact him first about the shipping costs.

Zarick also allows for some customization including case and accent colour and other customization options can be discussed with him before ordering.

First off, you may choose either white or black for the main case color. Then you can also choose the color of the accents, for those pretty much any color can be chosen. Also I will offer to put your Live Gamertag on the system if you choose. After you place your order, please email me the details of your system. Also you may put in the colors under the notes section of PayPal. If you want a custom themed XBOOK, you will need to contact me directly as pricing on those system is more.

While the XBOOK ONE X has a keyboard, use is limited to the menu screens as Microsoft hasn’t added keyboard and mouse support yet. If you do order an XBOOK ONE X from Zarick with a keyboard, you will lose one of the USB ports on the Xbox One X, however, you can order it without as well. Given the rumours that keyboard and mouse support is coming to the Xbox One soon, if you do have the money to shell out for one of these bad boys, you’ll probably be better off getting it with a keyboard.

What do you think about the XBOOK ONE X? Is it something you’ll be ordering or would order if you had the money? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
