Super Mario 64 modded with first-person view mode

Mario 64 took the world by storm back in the day when it came out as one of the first games offering 3D technology to the gaming industry. It was also a fun game from my childhood that I would spend hours upon hours playing. Thanks to modder Kaze Emanuar, you can experience Super Mario 64 in first-person view and relive all the levels you still have kept locked away in your mind.

The name of the mod is “First Person Mario 64” and it pretty much sticks a camera on Mario’s face allowing you to see what he is seeing. Kaze even mentioned some comments about making this hack in first-person by saying “This hack tries to follow Mario’s head’s movement as closely as possible. With how elaborate Mario’s animations are, this results in a challenging romhack.”

Since Mario can jump high, run, and do some tricks, it’s clear that Kaze took a lot of time to show us that this was possible and as cool as it is, it can make some people sick. Towards the end of the clip, Kaze faces Bowser and if you recall, you have to spin him around in a circle and throw him at the bombs and off the platform. It’s a cool battle and makes it more fun to take on Bowser but it’s hard to see Bowser’s tail to grab on to.
