Zany Far Cry 5 Season Pass detailed; includes Far Cry 3 Classic Edition

Season passes are definitely here to stay with many larger titles offering them up as a way to save on future DLC for the game. Far Cry is no exception and Ubisoft has unveiled the contents of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass. While DLC usually expands the game’s story or adds multiplayer content, this Season Pass is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Alongside dropping a story trailer for the game yesterday, Ubisoft also announced that Far Cry 3 Classic Edition for consoles would be part of the Season Pass. Those who purchase the Season Pass will be able to play Far Cry 3 Classic Edition on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 four weeks before its standalone release in the summer. PC players will get a copy of the Far Cry 3 base game.

The Season Pass will include three “uncanny adventures” which will have gamers facing off against hordes of zombies, escaping from behind Vietcong enemy lines, and saving Earth from a Martian arachnid invasion. Personally, I can’t help but think of the parallels of the zaniness of some of these to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the over-the-top 80s inspired standalone expansion to Far Cry 3.

As zany as it sounds, I’m looking forward to seeing how, or even if, the contents of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass fits into the main story of the game. Given the story of the main game though, present-day America in turmoil and the Eden’s Gate cult has taken over Hope County, Montana. That in itself is going to be a crazy and interesting enough storyline and given the release of Blood Dragon, I wouldn’t doubt that these three DLC adventures will be more of a standalone story as well.
