If you recall, Sharp made a “bezel-less” Aquos S2 midway through last year. Being a smartphone that was only released in China, that’s all we really heard about it. This year, Sharp is coming out with their next successor to the Aquos S series: the Sharp Aquos S3. While it continues to have a “bezel-less” display, it may also come with a “notch” making it look like a clone of Apple’s iPhone X.
The phone that may be unveiled at MWC in Barcelona, Spain, Sharp’s next phone bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone X with a “top-notch” and the vertical dual camera setup. The difference is going to the fingerprint scanner that’s in the middle of the back of the device versus the S2, where the fingerprint scanner was at the bottom of the device under the display.
Like most leaks and rumors, specifications for the Sharp Aquos S3 where also unveiled. It’s rumored to sport a screen size of 5.99 inches with 2160 x 1080 resolution. The battery will come in at 3,100mAh which isn’t too bad and could get users throughout the day. If you’re wondering what the storage and RAM look like, you should see 64/128GB and 4/6GB RAM variants respectively. The SoC might either be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660, which is a mid-range tier processor. As for what version of Android releasing on this mysterious device, it’s rumored to be running Android 8.0 Oreo.
We’ll find out soon enough as MWC is rolling around the corner, but in the meantime, what do you guys think about Sharp’s new rumored Aquos S3? It may look like an iPhone X, but do you think it’s worth purchasing (depending on the price of course) with the current leaks on specs?
