G Series gaming laptops lead Dell's gaming portfolio revitalization

In addition to a number of refreshes to their consumer PC lineup, Dell has also announced six new Windows 10 gaming laptops today, including four in the new Dell G Series debut, leading off a revitalization of the Dell Gaming portfolio.

Some of the highlights of the new Dell Gaming news include:

The new Dell G (for gaming) Series laptops are aimed at gamers who are looking for performance without breaking the bank and start at $749USD, offering entry-level gaming laptops with decent performance.

Dell G Series

The Dell G Series debuts with four systems, the Dell G3 15 and 17, the Dell G5 15, and the Dell G7 15. The G Series gaming laptops are game-ready, equipped with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-series GPUs, Coffee Lake 8th Gen Intel Core processors, anti-glare IPS panels, thermal management solutions, intelligent content prioritization software, and more.

The G Series takes over from the Inspiron Gaming notebooks and are available in a number of colors, depending on the model, including Black, Recon Blue, Alpine White, or Beijing Red. Interestingly enough, Dell has foregone the typical red LED lighting for their G Series and instead chosen blue as their gaming LED of choice.

Alienware

Dell’s signature Alienware line-up continues to be their premium gaming brand and the new Alienware 15 and 17 gaming laps will offer new Coffee Lake 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i5, i7, and i9 processors with up to 6-cores, enabling overclocking up to 5.0GHZ. To achieve this, Alienware is using improved cooling technology dubbed Alienware Cryo-Tech v2.0 which feature 50% thinner fan blades and a vapor chamber on the CPU. In addition to the Alienware Space Grey colour, the new systems will be available in a new Epic Black colour option as well.

Key features of the Alienware 15 and 17 gaming laptops include:

In Canada, the new Alienware laptops will be availabe on APril 10 starting at $1,899.99CAD and $2,099.99CAD respectively. They will also be available on BestBuy.com and in select Best Buy Stores.

Alienware Arena Awards

Dell is also launching a new gamification and engagement discount program to all gamers. The Alienware Arena Awards program allows fans to win Arena Rewards Points and Dell Advantage Rewards — with no purchase necessary. By gaming or participating in community events, gamers can earn Arena Rewards Points which help them level up through the aptly named ranks: noob, casual, enthusiast, veteran, hard core, and elite. Once leveled up, they secure new perks, prizes, or Dell Advantage Rewards. The Dell Advantage Rewards can then be redeemed for discounts on various Dell and Alienware products.

The Alienware Arena Game Vault mobile app is also launching today and allows gamers to earn more points at gaming events starting with PAX East in Boston. To get started, gamers can text ARENA to 41411 to download the iOS or Android app to start winning Arena Reward Points.

eSports

Alienware remains committed to its 11-year eSports legacy and Alienware and Dell hardware will be used during NBA 2K league competition and live studio experiences. Additionally, Misfits Gaming announced that their eSports teams will start training and using Alienware hardware including Alienware Aurora desktops, Alienware 15 laptops, AW2518H 240Hz monitors and mixture of Alienware keyboards and mice.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce this foundational partnership with Alienware,” said Misfits Gaming CEO Ben Spoont. “Alienware will power and enable all our Misfits athletes across the world with high-performance PCs and equipment. Alienware and Team Liquid also recently unveiled an 8,000 square foot dedicated eSports training facility that will serve as Team Liquid’s North American headquarters.

HTC VIVE Pro

As the first and only PC provider to initially sell the consumer version of the HTC VIVE VR headset, Dell will also be among the first to sell the HTC VIVE Pro on Dell.com. Starting at $799 (for the headset only), the VIVE Pro will be available April 5 in the U.S. on Dell.com, with plans to expand globally later this year.
