Your Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch will soon be able to unlock your PC

Unlocking your PC with your fingerprint or watch is some pretty cool stuff as it saves you a bit of time when trying log in. The Apple Watch already has that ability but now it’s Samsung’s turn to try out the same ability to their Samsung Gear S3 and Gear Sport smartwatches.

Samsung is currently pushing out an update via their Samsung Flow application on Android that will allow Tizen 3.0 smartwatches, such as the Gear S3 and Gear Sport watches, to be able to unlock your Windows 10 PC just like you already can with your Samsung device. If you’re not familiar with what the Samsung Flow app does, it allows users to connect Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and PCs to share content, sync notifications, unlock Windows 10 PCs with Samsung smartphones, create an instant hotspot, and more. Another feature the application has is Smart View that will mirror what’s on your phones screen straight to your PC.

If you’ve never used the Samsung Flow before, the steps are pretty simple. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on the devices you are wanting to pair and follow the directions from there. Similar steps will be taken when pairing the watch but as of right now when trying to connect your PC and Gear S3 device, it gives an error stating to open up the application on a mobile device. So, don’t expect to have your smartwatch paired with your PC quite yet. Samsung is still getting things updated and ready as fast as possible, so over the next few days, this feature should be ready for users to download from the Galaxy App store.
