Nintendo Japan is getting three new 2DS XL bundles

Nintendo Japan announced three new Nintendo 2DS XL bundles today and they’re pretty cool — unfortunately, you’ll only be able to pick them up in Japan. Nintendo is coming out with an Animal Crossing bundle, a “new” Mario Kart 7 bundle, and a Minecraft bundle.

If you’re not already familiar with the 2DS handhelds Nintendo has come out with, they’re pretty much an entry level to the 3DS system that came out way back in 2011. The difference between the two is that the 2DS doesn’t have 3DS capabilities, but has a big screen like its older brother, the 3DS.

First up is the Animal Crossing 2DS XL bundle. From the picture below, you can tell the face of the system has the game title “Animal Crossing” on it along with some trees and a house. It’s a nice and subtle faceplate and nothing too flashy. Any fan of this game would probably like this.

Second is the Mario Kart 7 bundle, and unlike the previous 2DS version which came out with a blue and black color scheme, this year you’re looking at a new and sleek red and black color scheme.

Last but not least, Nintendo Japan will be releasing a Minecraft version of the 2DS XL. This version is probably the coolest bundle of them all because of Nintendo making the face of the system a “creeper” from the actual game.

The Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 7 bundles will be out on July 19th, this month while the Minecraft variant will come out on August 2nd. The downfall is there hasn’t been any mention as to when and if these versions of the 2DS XL will be heading our way to local retailers. Each bundle will automatically come with the titles mentioned, so there is no need to go out and purchase the game at a store or through the eShop.

Pricing for the Minecraft bundle is set at ¥16,980 while the other two will retail for ¥15,980.
