YouTube dark mode is finally rolling out to Android users

YouTube dark mode has been available for iOS and desktop users now for a while. Unfortunately, Android users have been forced to wait for YouTube dark mode despite the desire for it. Now, Android users are finally going to get their fix. Users should start seeing a YouTube update today with the new option to switch to dark mode. Like the iOS version, dark mode can be toggled on and off.

It’s interesting that it took YouTube this long to get the Android app updated with the feature. Dark mode is really one of those features you didn’t know you wanted until you use it. The feature replaces the white background elements in the app and on desktop. This is really helpful in low light situations so you’re not blinding yourself and everyone around you.

But I find dark mode to be useful even in regular lighting. I just prefer the looks of it over the white and it helps a bit with battery life. We think more app developers need to include a dark mode option in their apps.

What do you think? Are you excited for dark mode on YouTube? Do you think more apps should offer it? Let us know in the comments below or on GooglePlus, Twitter, or Facebook.
