Let’s face it. Android tablets have sort of falling out of favor with the general user base. Only a handful of people are still using them but some OEM’s still feel they’re worth making. Samsung is one of those OEM’s and they’re giving you a sneak peek at the Galaxy Tab S4.
The last Tab S tablet released was back in 2017 so it’s about the right time for a new version. This Galaxy Tab S4 will house a 10.5″ SAMOLED (2560×1600) display. That’s a bump up from last year’s Tab S3. The display will also come in a 16:10 screen ratio.
The SoC on the motherboard is going to be last years Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. That’s not a horrible thing for a tablet and should suffice performance wise. The Galaxy Tab S4 will come in two variants. 64GB or 256GB with 4GB of RAM and support for a 400GB MicroSD card.
“At Samsung, we believe tablets play an increasingly important role in making lives easier and improving the mobile experience for everyone,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics. “With the Galaxy Tab S4, we’re introducing a premium tablet, equipped with Samsung DeX that helps consumers perform their absolute best wherever they go. We look forward to providing our customers with a sense of leisure and comfort knowing that this new addition to our ecosystem of connected devices is also packed with features to help them stay entertained.”
As for cameras, the rear is a 13MP sensor and the front is an 8MP sensor. Battery life should be exceptional on the Tab S4 as it houses a large 7,300mAh cell for 16-hours video playback. The speakers on the Galaxy Tab S4 are AKG made with Dolby Atmos sound.
Samsung DeX is also featured on the Tab S4. This will transform your Tab S4 into a desktop-style interface. You can do this by attaching the Book Cover keyboard. The interface will change and allow for opening several desktop-style windows. You can also re-resize, drag and drop content between apps and use keyboard shortcuts.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will be available August 10th. The starting price is $649.99USD for the 64GB and $749.99USD for the 256GB. The S-Pen is part of the tablet but the Book Cover keyboard is going to cost an extra $150USD.
