Lyric Canvas joins COTODOMA’s Lyric speaker line with backing of Abbey Road Red

|

COTODOMA, the company behind the insane (in size, features, and price) Lyric speaker, have announced the upcoming release of the Lyric Speaker Canvas. In case you’re unfamiliar with the Lyric Speaker, it’s definitely up there as only 15 per month are handmade in Japan and retail for $4500USD. Its claim to fame is its 22-inch LCD panel which displays the lyrics of whatever song you’re listening to on it.

The Lyric Speaker Canvas takes a more subtle approach and consists of two boards that lean against the wall, mimicking vinyl record sleeves. The lyrics are displayed on the front board while the second houses the Hi-Fi audio speaker. COTODAMA has teamed up with Abbey Road Red in order to bring the Canvas to market.

Abbey Red Road is Europe’s leading music tech incubator and speaks highly of the COTODAMA team and their move to bring lyrics back to the forefront of music streaming.

“With streaming, music services have been evolving at an astonishing pace,” says Kevin Fanous, Innovation Manager at Abbey Road Red. “More music is available and more accessible than ever before, but lyrics haven’t kept up. We’ve lost the feeling of running our fingers over release artwork and reading the lyrics while listening, singing along or mouthing the words when we feel like it. The brilliant team at COTODAMA are on a mission to evolve our lyrical experiences. Abbey Road Red explores the world’s most innovative technologies empowering music and culture. We are happy to partner with COTODAMA as the company moves forward with new experiences and products for their lyric visualisation technology.”

More information, including pricing, will be released closer to the launch of the Lyric Speaker Canvas in September.
