Motorola Android Pie device update list unveiled

Whenever a new version of Android comes out, it takes a while for some OEMs to not only announce what devices are getting upgraded but also to roll out the update to actual devices themselves. If you own a Motorola smartphone and were hoping for a helping of Android Pie “baked for you,” the Motorola Android Pie device update list has been posted on the Motorola Blog.

The company also touches a bit on what to expect with Android 9, a.k.a. Android Pie, once it’s released on their family of devices.

Fresh out of the oven, we’re excited to share that Android™ 9.0 Pie (Android P) is on its way to a Motorola smartphone near you. The new Android OS updates will give you a smarter and simpler user experience that adapts to you.

The more you use your phone, the better the experience gets over time. From the new Intuitive Navigation and Recent App, an improved Do Not Disturb mode, and a colorful settings menu, to anticipated longer battery life, revamped split-screen and more, Android P gives you that piece of pie you’ve been longing for.

Android P also brings a redesigned Quick Settings, simplified volume controls, an easier way to manage notifications and more.

If you own one of the following devices, you can expect to see Android Pie at some point on it. As of this time, Motorola hasn’t announced actual dates for release but you can check the Motorola Software Upgrade page for updates. The devices getting upgraded to the newest version of Android include:

  • moto z3
  • moto z3 play
  • moto z2 force edition
  • moto z2 play
  • moto x4
  • moto g6 plus
  • moto g6
  • moto g6 play

As you can see, the devices — for the most part — are newer devices from Motorola and, aside from the moto z2, only the current generation of those devices will be seeing the update.
