While the Gears of War game-based movie is in the works, there has been no news of casting for the movie’s titular role of Marcus Fenix. Dave Bautista wants to change that.
In a recent interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy star expressed his interest in playing the role. In fact, he believes he’s the right man for the job. As he put it:
“I’ve been pursuing Gears of War for years now. I believe it’s in the hands of Universal Studios. And I’ve been knocking on their door and badgering them and they are so sick of me, phoning in and asking them where they are with that project. But, yes, Marcus Fenix is absolutely a dream role for me. I want that role. So, if you can start a petition…
Even though the role hasn’t been cast, Bautista is adamant that it’s his role to play.
“Come on dude, let’s do this. I’ve been begging for this part for years. This is my destiny to play Marcus Fenix,” he said in response to an IGN reader’s comment.

While Bautista has been pretty vocal as of late about his continued role as Drax in the third Guardian’s of the Galaxy movie, he does have a future career to think about. This also isn’t the first time the wrestler-turned-actor has mentioned his interest in this role. Still, Universal Studios has yet to announce, really, pretty much anything on the film.
