The array of Marvel shows the streaming service had running was impressive. Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. They all had their ups and downs, some were loved, others hated but at least we finally had some Marvel shows. Sure there were mixed reactions to a few of these but overall, I think most fans would have liked to see them continue and perhaps mature and get better. But that ended when Netflix dropped the hammer on three of their Marvel shows, one of which was arguably the most popular one, Daredevil.
This whole squall has stirred up a swirling eddy of questions. OK, so some could understand the cancellation of Iron Fist but some were confused by the Luke Cage cancellation and worse yet, the boot they gave Daredevil. When we first reported on this story, we heard the rumor that Disney may not be done with these shows. But now that tuned has changed.
Now CBR.com is reporting that Rolling Stone TV critic Alan Sepinwall claims there is a major disconnect between Marvel TV and the MCU which is the driving factor that will keep Disney+ from picking up these Marvel Shows.
“The execs have already said they don’t want these shows on the Disney service,” he tweeted. “And even if they did, the nature of the contracts would make it virtually impossible. They’re done.”
“I should clarify,” added Sepinwall. “The Marvel shows for Disney+ are being produced by Marvel movie execs, who do not like or get along with the Marvel TV execs who made Dardevil et al. Technically, they COULD make a Luke Cage show a few years down the line. They just don’t want to,” he also tweeted.
So sad/hilarious what a one-sided relationship the MCU and Marvel TV turned out to be.

So I guess take that for what it’s worth. There’s still no word on what will happen to Jessica Jones or The Punisher. Personally, I would miss The Punisher more than Daredevil so I am hoping that lives on somehow.
