BenQ

BenQ EX3501R 35″ Ultrawidescreen Monitor

BenQ-EX3501R-review
For a beast of a monitor, the BenQ EX3501R 35″ Ultrawidescreen Monitor is nicely designed and pretty sleek. The panel itself is framed with a thin black bezel along the top and sides with the bottom bezel coming in at about an inch thick. As our review found, the QHD resolution is perfect. It’s nice and crisp with 100% sRGB color gamut and using Windows 10 at 100% scale setting worked perfectly.

If you’re currently using dual monitors or a laptop with a secondary screen for more real estate, or looking for a bigger gaming monitor — and this is a great monitor for gaming — you’d be well off to invest in the BenQ EX3501R. Not only large and aesthetically pleasing, the included features like HDR and BI+ support are more than worth the cost of the monitor. It’s for all these reasons and considerations that the BenQ EX3501R ultra-widescreen monitor is more than worthy of a Top Pick of 2018 Award here at Techaeris, even with it’s US$849.99 price tag.

BenQ EL2870U Gaming Monitor

The BenQ EL2870 monitor review.

Monitors are a dime a dozen these days. Ranging from your $50 run-of-the-mill basic monitor with a single VGA or DVI port to your top-of-the-line Ultra HD monitor with several HDMI and display ports, there’s a monitor for everybody. Typically though, if you want the top-of-the-line monitor with the bells and whistles, you usually have to pay top dollar. Enter BenQ.

For around US$500 this monitor should definitely be on your radar.
From the crisp colors to the 27.9-inches of screen real estate this monitor, the EL2870U (read our full review) is impressive. Despite its lackluster speakers, the monitor is a must buy.  If you’re looking for even more real estate, BenQ also has a 32-inch version which we also previously reviewed.

BenQ EW3270 Monitor

BenQ-EW3270U-review

Over the past couple years, 4K UHD has been gaining popularity, especially on the media consumption side. HDR has also been gaining traction with many 4K TVs and gaming consoles supporting the format. Our BenQ EW3270U review took  a look at a 32″ 4K UHD computer monitor with HDR 10 support, Eye-care technology, auto-brightness adjustments, AMD FreeSync support, and more.

With an MSRP of US$699 is a pretty reasonable price given the quality and performance of the BenQ EW3270U monitor. However, this monitor is currently selling for $450 on Amazon. If you are looking for a 4K monitor and are looking to throw HDR into the mix, the BenQ EW3270U is an excellent choice with its multiple connection types, crisp display, and BI+ technology.

Sound BlasterX Katana

Sound-BlasterX-Katana-review-Top-Pick

Granted this is an item we reviewed last year, but it is still by far the best desktop computer speaker system I’ve reviewed for entertainment and gaming.

For starters, this thing is INSANELY LOUD. Caps intended. The highest I was able to push it without going deaf was 20, which translates into 40/100 on the Windows volume scale. During regular gameplay and other computer tasks, a volume of 6 was more than sufficient in most cases. Even though it’s listed as a 2.1 sound system, when connected through optical audio you can achieve 5.1 surround sound and when connected via USB to a PC, you can experience high-resolution 24-bit 96kHz audio playback and virtual 7.1 surround sound.

If you’ve been looking for a compact gaming sound solution for your desktop computer, the Sound BlasterX Katana delivers fantastic sound for games, movies, and music in a solidly designed package, currently available for US$219.99.

Dell

Dell S2719DGF Gaming Monitor

Dell-S2719-FI
At IFA 2018, Dell announced two new gaming monitors for gamers which offer some great perks to get an edge on the competition. There are a 24-inch and a 27-inch monitor to give you options. We reviewed the Dell S2719DGF gaming monitor that has a 1440p (2K) QHD resolution, AMD FreeSync for smooth visuals, up to 155Hz refresh rate, three preset gaming modes, and more.

Even if you don’t have an AMD graphics card but you’re in the market for getting a gaming monitor, this should be added to the list. The quality is immaculate and the design is simple and clean. And for a price that is beating other brands (MSRP US$529.99), you definitely can’t pass this monitor up, especially at it’s current sale price of $399.99.

Priced at US$99.99 and up, depending on your keyboard weapon of choice, the Fnatic STREAK and miniSTREAK mechanical gaming keyboards offer great performance and value with their Cherry MX switch choice selections. As a result, they are more than worthy of a Top Pick of 2018 Award here at Techaeris.

HyperX SAVAGE EXO

HyperX-SAVAGE-EXO-review

As time goes on, portable memory options are becoming more compact and more affordable. While portable SSDs can be used with most computer systems, our HyperX SAVAGE EXO review took a look at a portable SSD with a focus on gaming — and for good reason.

The HyperX SAVAGE EXO portable SSD offers fantastic read speeds, making it a great choice as an external drive for console gaming. However, its write speeds are somewhat lacking if you plan on using this drive for other activities than gaming. The drive is available in both 480GB and 960GB versions, starting at US$127.99.

HyperX Cloud Alpha Review FI

Sound is most definitely a very important aspect of gaming. Depending on what you’re playing, it can be the difference between winning and losing. The HyperX Cloud Alpha gaming headset (read our review) is an affordable option available from the gaming peripheral company.

HyperX has been doing some great things in the gaming hardware business, and the Cloud Alpha headphones are no exception. They sound great, are priced right, and are one of the most comfortable pairs of headphones our reviewer has ever worn. This headset makes a great gift at US$99.99.

Typing on the Alloy FPS Pro is a nice experience. The Cherry MX Red switches provide a low actuation force, meaning that typing can be quick without having to push too hard to get each key to activate. Gaming is equally positive, with the keys providing a quick response to your keypresses. The HyperX Alloy FPS Pro offers a compact gaming solution for under US$70.

y520TFI

Rather than spending a pretty penny on a gaming PC, Lenovo seems to understand that there are those who are on a budget but still want to enjoy PC gaming. As such, Lenovo has released a series of budget-friendly gaming PCs to the masses. If you’re looking for a decent gaming rig without springing for too much extra, the i5 and 8GB of RAM model is no slouch when it comes to your basic gaming.

The price of this gaming machine is decent considering that the base model starts at $799.99USD. With that, you get an NVIDIA GeForce 1050Ti graphics card and 8GB of RAM, powered by an i5-8400 CPU.

Linksys

Linksys WRT32X

Linksys-WRT32X-review

With more internet-connected devices in today’s household, bandwidth can be somewhat of a commodity — especially when trying to game. While there are a number of MU-MIMO (multiple user, multiple-input and multiple-output) routers currently available, they can fall short even though they allow for more computers, smartphones, and IoT devices to simultaneously use your internet connection. Our Linksys WRT32X review took a look at a gaming router that takes things one step further with its Killer Prioritization Engine for computers equipped with Killer Networking cards.

If you have a Killer Network-enabled computer and a slower internet connection which interferes with your gaming, the Linksys WRT32X Gaming Router will definitely help with network traffic prioritization and speed while gaming. This is highly dependent on your network speeds and if you have higher speeds (anything over 50Mbps down), prioritization probably isn’t much of a concern.

With an MSRP of $299.99USD, the Linksys WRT32X Gaming Router isn’t one of the cheaper solutions out there. However, it is currently on sale for under $175, making it a pretty decent deal.

Logitech

Logitech G Pro Gaming Headset

Logitech-G-Pro-FI

Logitech is rebranding their gaming series of products to carry the Pro moniker, but don’t be intimidated, anyone can use these headphones even if they’re not a serious “pro” gamer. Logitech added in their own patent-pending hybrid-mesh “Pro G” audio drivers. These drivers are supposed to solve common distortion problems and help deliver booming bass and precise clarity. The new mesh also makes for an extremely lightweight headset. The mic is also top notch and makes your voice come in loud and clear.

We loved the long-term comfort and build quality the headset provides, the price point is not terrible given that the sound and mic quality are the stars here. What good is a gaming headset if the sound and mic quality suck? Logitech got those right and I’d recommend these to anyone needing a sub $100 pair of gaming cans.

Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam

Logitech C922

If you know someone who streams on Twitch for viewers and plays with friends, you’ll definitely want a webcam that will be able to display good video quality of you so people will be able to see you clearly while keeping the price under $100USD. That’s where Logitech comes in with their C922 Pro Stream Webcam. It will get you video quality up to Full HD 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60fps.

At the end of the day — or stream in my case — the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam did its job and performed much better than I expected. While it maxes out at 1080p @ 30fps, you can always bump it down to 720p if you desire 60fps. Some people out there may be looking for a 4K webcam and that’s cool and all, but there’s no need to overkill your stream especially if you’re just starting out. And for the discounted price of under $70USD, you can’t pass this up.

Logitech G560 RGB Gaming Speakers

Logitech G560

Logitech is looking to spice up your gaming experience with the new G560 gaming speakers. During our review, we found that the Logitech G560 speakers really add to the enjoyment of playing games. By some small measure, they actually bring the game off the screen and into your environment. The sound of the Logitech G560 speakers with default setting leans rather heavily towards bass. The bass is huge and booming. The satellites do an excellent job of delivering highs and mids without jumbling them together.

I’m sure not everyone will want to pay the $199.99USD asking price, and not everyone likes lights all over, but if you do, I think you will love the Logitech G560 RGB gaming speakers.

Logitech G613

Logitech-G613-review

There are definitely plenty of choices out there when it comes to gaming keyboards, most of the wired variety. One thing you don’t want to be experiencing while gaming is latency and that’s why gamers usually choose wired peripherals like keyboards, mice, and controllers. Wireless controllers have been around for years on consoles and reliable wireless peripherals have also been making their way to PC gaming.

Performance-wise, the Logitech G613 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard performs as well as, if not better than, some of its wired counterparts. Unfortunately, the design is rather bland and it looks like a cheaper, standard keyboard as opposed to the gaming peripheral it is. Still, for $129.99USD, it’s a great gaming keyboard for those hoping to go the wireless route. Better yet, it’s currently on sale for around $90USD on Amazon.

Logitech G603

Logitech-G603-review

Of course, if you’re going wireless for your keyboard, you’ll need a mouse to go with it. As we found out with the G613, wireless peripherals can easily keep up with their wired counterparts. Our Logitech G603 review took a look at the other half of the gaming input equation: a LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse which boasts a 1ms response time as well as a Bluetooth connectivity option.

There used to be a time when gamers would scoff at wireless gaming peripheral options and many probably still will. However, the Logitech G603 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse proves that wireless has come into its own and is a suitable choice for gamers wanting a wireless option without sacrificing gaming performance. The G603 is currently available for $55USD.

Logitech G920 Racing Wheel

Logitech-G920-review

Another review from a couple years ago, the Logitech G920 remains the best PC/Xbox One racing wheel. If racing games are your thing, the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel is something you’ll definitely want to consider with its great performance and build. Trust me, it takes an already great racing experience to the next level, and easily earned a spot in our Top Picks of 2016.

With an MSRP of $399USD ($499CAD), the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel definitely isn’t cheap — but it’s also not the most expensive racing wheel setup on the market. Given the build quality and materials used, as well as the ease of use and great performance, I have to say that if you spend most of your time playing racing games on the Xbox One then you’ll definitely get your money’s worth out of the G920. Even better, Amazon currently has the wheel on sale for $244USD.

Nintendo-Switch-Nintendo-eShop

While we haven’t reviewed this, here at Techaeris, the Nintendo Switch is definitely the portable console to get. From its large selection of Nintendo exclusive games to its dual home/on-the-go gaming functionality, the Switch is likely on the list of kids, teens, and even some adults this year.

Starting at $299USD, there are bundles available which include a game or two. With games like Super Smash Bros. due out soon, you’d be remiss to pass this up for the Nintendo gamer in your life.

OMEN by HP

OMEN by HP Mindframe gaming headset

OMEN-by-HP-Mindframe-review

While HP is known for their business computing and printer business, they do also make gaming gear under the OMEN by HP brand. Gaming headsets most often vary by design, build quality, and sound quality. Every once in a while, a gaming headset comes along with a new feature. Our OMEN by HP Mindframe review took a look at the first gaming headset with active earcup cooling technology. That’s right, these headphones claim to keep your ears cool during those long gaming session.

The OMEN by HP Mindframe Advanced Gaming Headset offer decent virtual 7.1 Surround Sound for gaming, as well as audio. The real winning feature, though, is just how cool they keep your ears during long gaming or listening sessions. Sadly these are PC only, I’d love to have a set for the Xbox One! In either case, for those gamers who game a lot on the PC, these are well worth the $199.99USD asking price.

Razer

Razer Blade Pro

Razer-Blade-Pro-review

Razer is well known for their Razer Blade and Razer Blade Pro lineup of gaming laptops. However, not everyone can afford to shell out $4500USD for the new Razer Blade Pro and that’s where the more affordable Razer Blade Pro FHD version comes in with lower, but still suitable specs for most of your gaming needs.

Given the specs on this laptop — Quad-Core 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5, 16GB dual-channel memory, 256GB SSD PCIe M.2, and Killer Networking — you’d expect pretty decent performance, and you wouldn’t be wrong. The Razer Blade Pro FHD is a more affordable option with great performance with a sleeker design than is normally seen in gaming laptops. Even though there are still a few minor issues like sound and battery life, these are pretty standard when it comes to gaming laptops, especially with specs like the Razer Blade Pro has under the hood. Overall, given the price — and the current sale price of $1799.99USD at that — coupled with the specs, if you’re looking for a decent gaming laptop at a decent price, the Razer Blade Pro FHD nicely fits the bill.

Razer Electra V2

Razer-Electra-V2-review

f you want great gaming or music headphones, you expect you’d need to shell out a pretty penny. That’s not always the case and our Razer Electra V2 review took a look at an analog gaming and music headset with decent sound that won’t break that bank. Overall, the Razer Electra V2 look pretty decent, although the plastic earcups do lend to the budget look. They are pretty sturdy though and after a few months of daily use are still holding up well.

Razer boasts virtual 7.1 Surround Sound with the Razer Electra V2. There is no software to control this (unless you get the USB version of the headset, our review unit was the 3.5mm analog version). That being said, during gaming there was definitely some enhanced surround sound taking place an audio was crisp and clear. The 40mm drivers are large enough for loud sound. Even when cranked to full volume, there was no indication of muffling or sound distortion.

With an MSRP of $59.99USD/$79.99CAD, the Razer Electra V2 is definitely worth the price if you’re looking for a decent sounding, comfortable headset and are working with a limited budget.

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate

Razer-BlackWidow-Ultimate-review

If you’ve been using computers or gaming for any amount of time, you’ve probably at one time spilled coffee, pop, or water on your keyboard. Usually, that spells disaster for your peripheral which, depending on how into gaming you are, can be expensive to replace. Our Razer BlackWidow Ultimate review took a look at the latest version of one of the gaming company’s highest-rated mechanical gaming keyboards which Razer has now made IP54 water- and dust-resistant.

The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a great-performing keyboard for both gaming and regular use for those who prefer a tactile mechanical keyboard with the added bonus of water- and dust-proof protection. With an MSRP of $110USD, it’s currently on sale for just over $100 on Amazon.

Razer Naga Trinity

Razer-Naga-Trinity-review

A Top Pick earlier this year, the Razer Naga Trinity is the only mouse you’ll need for gaming and productivity. While some may be more suited for general use, others have FPS specific features while others are more suitable for MOBAs or MMOs. If you play multiple game types, you might be tempted to purchase a couple different mice for use depending on the game you are currently playing. The Razer Naga Trinity is a gaming mouse with three changeable side plates allowing for general productivity use as well as for MOBA and MMO use without having to swap out your entire mouse.

Coming in at an MSRP of $99.99 USD, the Razer Naga Trinity isn’t exactly on the cheaper side. However, you’re really getting three mice in one and the performance coupled with the ease of use and ability to store up to four profiles on the mouse offers fantastic value. In addition, there’s even more value added for day to day computer tasks and applications as well. If I wasn’t a gamer, I’d be very tempted to get this mouse for productivity purposes alone.

Razer Nari

Razer-Nari-Ultimate-haptic-feedback

The latest headset lineup from Razer is the Nari lineup. Available in three varieties, the Nari Ultimate adds Razer HyperSense haptic feedback. Delivering multi-dimensional haptic feedback in music, games, and movies, Razer HyperSense converts audio signals into tactile feedback in real time. The technology was developed with Lofelt and creates an immersive, natural, and lifelike experience.

Compatible with PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices, the Razer Nari comes in three flavours: Nari UltimateNari, and Nari Essential. The Nari mirrors the Nari Ultimate minus the HyperSense tech, while the Nari Essential focuses on the basics while including the THX Spatial Audio. The headsets retail for $199.99USD, $149, and $99.99 respectively.

Razer Wolverine Ultimate

Razer-Wolverine-Ultimate-review

Reviewed here at Techaeris late last year, the Razer Wolverine Ultimate remains our go to for PC gaming. This Xbox One/PC controller with remappable bumpers and triggers, as well as interchangeable thumbsticks and D-Pad. Oh, and did I mention Razer Chroma Lighting? The Razer Wolverine Ultimate controller for the Xbox One and PC is comfortable, well built, and customizable — giving you the option to game the way that suits you best.

At $159.99 USD, the Razer Wolverine Ultimate is only $10 more than the starting price of the Xbox Elite controller. Sadly, it’s not wireless but the build quality, customization, and performance offer enough value to overlook that. You can always get a USB extension cord if the cable isn’t long enough if needed depending on your setup.

Razer Rogue Backpack

Razer-Rogue-backpack-review

Razer is definitely known for its gaming laptops and peripherals. Of course, you’ll need a solid backpack to carry all that gear in. Our Razer Rogue backpack review took a look at an accessory from the gaming company that gamers may not know about. The Razer Rogue backpack is a sturdy, roomy, water-resistant backpack which will easily hold your Razer Blade/Blade Pro laptop, power supply, and more than a few accessories. If you have another branded laptop, as long as it’s similar in size to the Razer Blade you should be o.k. as well.

At $149.99 USD, the Razer Rogue backpack isn’t exactly cheap. Still, it is well constructed, and the stitching feels like it will stand up to frequent use. Of course, as with most name brands, you are paying a bit more to tout your love of, or membership in, the Cult of Razer.

Redragon

Redragon K566

Redragon-K556-review

When it comes to mechanical gaming keyboards, there are a few top brands that come to mind. Of course, that’s not to say there aren’t comparable and more affordable mechanical gaming keyboards for those on a budget. Our Redragon K556 review took a look at an RGB backlit mechanical gaming keyboard with brown switches and macro functionality that doesn’t break the bank.

A decent mechanical gaming keyboard can cost upwards of $200USD but there are other options out there. The Redragon K556 is a solid mechanical gaming keyboard with all the gaming necessities and brown switches at a very affordable price. With an MSRP of $69.99USD, the Redragon K556 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a great value for the price, especially if you’re after a keyboard with brown switches, RGB backlighting, and macro functionality.

ROCCAT

ROCCAT Khan Pro

ROCCAT-Khan-Pro-review

It’s definitely a great time to be a gamer with plenty of companies offering up peripheral options to enhance your gaming experience, including from some you may not have heard of before. Our ROCCAT Khan Pro review took a look at a Hi-Res Audio gaming headset that works across different platforms including Windows, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and mobile devices.

Hi-Res Audio is relatively new with few headsets being certified for it. Even though these aren’t a 7.1 surround sound gaming headset, the Hi-Res Audio more than makes up for it. If you’re looking for a relatively affordable, lightweight gaming headset with excellent sound and microphone, the ROCCAT Khan Pro Gaming Headset should do the trick for you. With an MSRP of $99.99USD, the ROCCAT Khan Pro Gaming Headset offers pretty decent value considering it’s excellent Hi-Res Audio and lightweight design.

ROCCAT Leadr

ROCCAT-Leadr

Again, wireless is just coming into its own with gaming peripherals. The ROCCAT Leadr is another wireless gaming mouse with plenty of buttons to suit your gameplay.

The Leadr gives you the freedom of wireless with the performance of wired. It rocks a combo of pioneering wireless technology and an optimized Owl-Eye optical sensor, meaning gaming with a wireless mouse is no longer a handicap. Zero lag and with virtually zero latency, it features a docking station with a top-cup cable for use as a wired mouse, plus an innovative suite of buttons for enhanced control. The Leadr is the wired mouse with no wires, making it wireless royalty.

It is a bit more expensive, at $139.99USD, but as you’ll find in our upcoming review, it’s definitely a great wireless option for those wanting a multi-button wireless gaming mouse.

SCUF

SCUF Xbox and PS4 controllers

SCUF-ELITE-review

SCUF Gaming remains one of our favourite third-party controller vendors here at Techaeris. Sure, they might be a bit pricier than other options but the build quality, customization, and performance make them well worth it for any avid PC, Xbox, or PlayStation gamer.

The SCUF ELITE Professional Gaming Controller builds upon the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller and adds SCUFs own spin on it including customizable shell and button colours, control discs, paddles, and grip types. Its solid design and comfortable grips make this a controller gamers won’t want to pass up and is why it earned a Top Pick of 2017 Award here at Techaeris.

On the flip side, the SCUF Infinity 4PS Pro also provides an elevated experience compared to what you’re probably used to with your stock controller. They do come at a premium price, but for the customization and overall experience you’re going to want to see what SCUF can do for yourself.

Seagate

Seagate Xbox One SSD

Seagate-Game-Drive-Xbox-SSD
When the Xbox One first came out, 500GB was plenty of hard drive space. However, soon after games started creeping up in size not only on physical disc but also on digital downloads. Now with the Xbox One X, it’s not unheard of for games to top over the 100GB mark with the 4K textures and other Xbox One X Enhanced features.

In addition, the Xbox One still runs off an HDD internal hard drive. The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox isn’t something new, we previously reviewed their current 512GB SSD model and found a significant speed increase when running games from it over the Xbox’s USB 3.1 port. At E3, the company announced a new design for the Game Drive for Xbox SSD in three capacities: 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB.

Sennheiser

Sennheiser GSP 600 Gaming Headset

Sennheiser-GSP-500-GSP-600-review

Both the GSP 500 and GSP 600 gaming headsets from Sennheiser are comfortable and sturdy gaming headsets. While both offer great communication with their noise-cancelling microphones, the GSP 600 with their closed-back earcups offer better sound than their open acoustic counterparts.

Right out of the gate, the GSP 600 Professional Gaming Headset sounds richer and fuller than the GSP 500. Equally balanced, the bass is just that much more pronounced which makes gaming with these that much more enjoyable than with the GSP 500 headset. While these aren’t noise-cancelling headphones, when using them, the passive noise attenuation helps keep the sound in and the outside world sound out. With an MSRP of $249.95USD, the GSP 600 are currently selling for $199.

SteelSeries

SteelSeries Apex M750 TKL

SteelSeries-Apex-M750-TKL-review

Another tenkeyless keyboard makes the list, this time from SteelSeries. There’s no question that mechanical keyboards are popular, especially amongst gamers. While keyboards without number pads are widespread on most laptops, mostly due to the size of smaller laptops, for the most part, most external keyboards are full sized. Depending on what games you play, you may not need a number pad and that’s where tenkeyless keyboards come in.

With an MSRP of $119.99USD, the SteelSeries Apex M750 TKL Gaming Keyboard is priced right alongside other full-sized mechanical keyboards. While there are cheaper options out there, the performance and compact size of this keyboard is well worth it if your primary use of your PC is gaming and you don’t mind not having a number pad on your keyboard. The SteelSeries Apex M750 TKL Gaming Keyboard offers fantastic gaming performance in a smaller size for added portability and extra mouse movement space.

SteelSeries Arctis 3 Bluetooth

SteelSeries-Arctis-3-review-Top-Pick

SteelSeries already has the Arctis 3 gaming headset out on the market for folks to pick up at an inexpensive price of $79.99USD. SteelSeries took that same headset and made it even better by adding in Bluetooth capabilities allowing you to use the headphones for Discord/Nintendo Online chat via BT, and the included 3.5mm jack to use with your gaming controller and listen to gaming audio at the same time.

SteelSeries offers the Arctis 3 Bluetooth headset for $99.99USD and for that price, you really can’t get any better than that. You’re getting Bluetooth capabilities for game chat from Discord or your phone while still being able to use the 3.5mm cable to listen to the games you’re playing on your favorite system. The way SteelSeries added the ability to listen to game audio through a cable and use Bluetooth for phone calls, music, or chatting with friends, other headphone makers may end up coming out with their own way to handle both simultaneously.

Turtle Beach

Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 + SuperAmp

Turtle-Beach-Elite-Pro-2

Turtle Beach is another company synonymous with gaming peripherals. Utilizing feedback from OpTic Gaming, Splyce, and the Houston Outlaws eSports teams, the Elite Pro 2 features 50mm Nanoclear speakers, a removable high-sensitivity TruSpeak mic, a durable metal headband, and Turtle Beach’s ProSpecs glasses friendly AeroFit gel-infused memory foam ear cushions. In addition, swappable magnetic deco plates allow gamers to customize the outer look of the Elite Pro 2 gaming headset.

Unlike the Tactical Audio Controller which featured a knob and various sliders, the Elite SuperAmp features a single dial for Windows Sonic audio on the Xbox One and DTS Headphone:X 7.1 Surround Sound on the PlayStation 4. When used with the Turtle Beach Audio Hub Android or iOS app, various settings like Game and Chat Audio Mix, Variable Mic Monitoring, Dynamic Chat Boost, Superhuman Hearing, EQ presets, and SuperAmp’s LED color and lighting modes can be easily adjusted.

Priced at $249.99USD, it may seem steep but the comfort and sound quality make these a worthy gift.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700

turtle-beach-stealth-700

Wireless controllers have been around for ages but third-party wireless headsets for consoles generally involved a wired receiver of some sort. The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 review was the first truly wireless Xbox One gaming headsets available on the market that utilizes Microsoft’s native Xbox wireless technology to connect to the console.

With an MSRP of $149.99USD, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 is about average priced for a wireless gaming headset. Depending on the type of gaming you do, the regular price is decent assuming most, if not all, of your gaming is done on the Xbox One or you have the Xbox Wireless dongle for the PC. Even at MSRP it’s a no-brainer if you’re looking for a wireless Xbox One (or PlayStation 4) headset that’s easy to use, quick to connect, and offers decent sound.

Turtle Beach Recon Camo

Turtle-Beach-Recon-Camo-review

Just the look of this headset screams Call of Duty or Battlefield. More importantly, however, is that they sound decent enough given the price on both Windows 10 PCs and the Xbox One. The Turtle Beach Recon Camo gaming headset also does a good job of blocking out outside sound as well even though they don’t feature noise cancellation. Being able to control the volume from the inline remote is a bonus as well, especially when playing on a console.

The Turtle Beach Recon Camo gaming headset has an MSRP of $69.95USD. Given the price, you’re getting pretty decent value for this considering they are lightweight and can be used on most devices and consoles. If you’re looking for an affordable, multi-platform gaming headset, the Turtle Beach Recon Camo isn’t a bad choice for the price.

Xbox

Xbox One X

Xbox-One-X-review

Yes, we love our Xbox One X consoles here at Techaeris. Whether you have a 1080p or 4K setup, the Xbox One X is definitely the console to behold to date. With Xbox One X Enhanced games, 1080p displays do see a bump in improvements, but those with 4K HDR setups are in for the real treat. Microsoft has also been hitting it hard lately with its Backward Compatibility and Xbox Game Pass programs, offering greater value for its gamers.

One piece of advice we will give you though if you do plan on upgrading your TV. If it’s not the Samsung Q8C, you should at the very least make sure that the TV is HDR capable not just 4K. You will experience the best picture the Xbox One X has to offer through a capable 4K HDR television so be sure to look for HDR and 4K on the box. And while the soundbar and subwoofer setup isn’t necessary for a great gaming and entertainment experience, it certainly can’t hurt — if you have the scratch to add that to your Xbox One X and 4K HDR TV purchase.

Now’s a great time to gift that Xbox gamer in your life with an upgrade, especially with some of the current deals and bundles available on the market.
