Welcome to the 2018 Techaeris Editor’s Choice Awards for Q4. This is a new awards program we introduced this year where we pick some of our favorite consumer tech products from the past quarter. Now that Q4 is wrapping up it’s time to announce what we felt were the best gadgets we reviewed and handled over the past few months. Don’t forget to check out our past Editor’s Choice Awards in case you missed them.

We want to congratulate the brands below for making the cut and for making outstanding products that we can recommend. Without further ado, here are the winners of our 2018 Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards (in no particular order).

Editor’s Choice smart display: JBL LINK VIEW

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

The JBL LINK VIEW shows just how much more fun Google Assistant can be with a screen. While we found the most use for it in the kitchen, its sound quality makes it perfect for streaming music from Spotify, Google Play Music, or other sources. For this and other reasons, it earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the JBL LINK VIEW.

Editor’s Choice gaming laptop: Razer Blade Stealth

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

If you’ve been looking for an ultraportable laptop for productivity on the go, you might not have considered Razer due to its gaming focus. However, the Razer Blade Stealth is an excellent choice with its solid performance, great build quality, and reasonable price given its specs. For this and other reasons the Razer Blade Stealth earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the Razer Blade Stealth.

Editor’s Choice smartphone: Google Pixel 3

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, the Google Pixel 3 is a fantastic device, especially when taking into account newer features like Night Sight. If you’re still rocking a Nexus or original Pixel device, the Pixel 3 will be a great upgrade. The Google Pixel 3 is definitely an improvement over the Pixel 2 smartphones. However, most of the features have come, or will be coming, to the Pixel 2 and 2 XL as well so it is a bit harder to justify an update unless you really want or need the latest and greatest Google has to offer.

One nice thing about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: the only thing you’re getting out of the 3 XL is the larger display (complete with a notch) and slightly bigger battery. As such, you can be assured that you’re getting the same performance, quality camera, and build quality regardless of which device you choose to pick up. To be honest, though, while I loved the Pixel 2 XL, I’ve grown to love, and prefer, the smaller size of the Pixel 3.

For this and other reasons, the Google Pixel 3 earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the Google Pixel 3.

Editor’s Choice business laptop: Dell Precision 5530

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

The Dell Precision 5530 is a serious contender for the hearts of content creators. Especially if those creators are looking at the maxed out version of this device and have the money to sink into it. It won’t disappoint. It’s a powerful machine with an amazing 4K display, rugged design, and amazing specs for getting serious work done.

For this and other reasons, the Precision 5530 earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the Precision 5530.

Editor’s Choice first drone: AUTEL EVO

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

The AUTEL EVO is probably not going to mean much to someone who’s been flying drones for a long time and already owns more expensive drones. I do think the AUTEL EVO is the perfect drone for a starting drone pilot to wet their whistle on. It’s super easy to set up, has a great build quality, performs well, has decent battery life (you can buy more batteries), and is priced well enough to not break the bank (for a drone). If you’re on the hunt for your first proper drone, you just cannot go wrong with the AUTEL EVO. That wraps up our AUTEL EVO review, hopefully, I’ll be able to revisit this one next year once I have some solid flights under my belt but for now, this is really a top-notch choice for a first drone pilot.

For this and other reasons, the AUTEL EVO earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the AUTEL EVO.

Editor’s Choice smart speaker: Polk Assist

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

The Polk Assist is hands down the best sounding and performing Google Assistant speaker in this size. At it’s current $149USD price it’s an excellent buy, and with Christmas coming it would make a great gift!

For this and other reasons, the Polk Assist earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the Polk Assist.

Editor’s Choice home tech: BedJet V2

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

Christmas is coming and BedJet is holding a sale that knocks $200USD off the price of this device. That means you can get one for $299USD right now. I think everyone needs to check out the BedJet V2. It really does offer up a great experience that you need to experience for yourself.

For this and other reasons, the BedJet V2 earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the BedJet V2.

Editor’s Choice 55″ 4K TV: Samsung Q7CN

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

The Samsung Q7CN isn’t the flagship QLED TV but that also means it’s also not as expensive. The Q7CN is priced at a more attainable price point for more users than the Q9 or Q8 series. It also offers up nearly the same performance, features, and quality.

With 4K content starting to become more relevant, you may be thinking about upgrading to a 4K TV. 4K gaming is also becoming bigger and that could be another reason you’re considering an upgrade. We’ve yet to review other 4K displays that are cheaper than the Q7CN but this is the most affordable 4K TV we have reviewed so far.

That being said, we think the Samsung Q7CN should be the first 4K TV you buy if you’re searching for a 55″ 4K UHD HDR TV.

For this and other reasons, the Samsung Q7CN earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the Samsung Q7CN.

Editor’s Choice monitor accessory: BenQ ScreenBar

Q4 Editor’s Choice Awards

If you spend any time working in dimmer lighting conditions, the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading Lamp should be on your “must have” list. It’s easy to see why it’s deserving of a Top Pick of 2018 Award here at Techaeris.

For this and other reasons, the BenQ ScreenBar earns an Editor’s Choice Award. Be sure to click the link below to read the full review including links to where you can purchase the BenQ ScreenBar.

Editor’s Choice content creators laptop: HP ZBook Studio x360 G5

HP ZBook Studio x360 G5 FI

The HP ZBook Studio x360 G5 is a last minute addition to our editor’s choice awards but we felt it deserved a slot for its excellence in most every category. This machine is not only stunning in its aesthetic, but just a beastly powerhouse of a machine.

This machine is expensive. If you’re a regular consumer and have this sort of money to spend then go for it. But if you’re just looking for a basic laptop, this isn’t it. No, this is for pros and pros alone. While it is pricey, it’s priced right for its category and for its intended audience. Content creators: this is most certainly a machine you should consider as your next tool.

Editor’s Choice best budget 4K HDR monitor: Monoprice 27772

EC Monoprice 27772 review

If you’re looking for a super-affordable 4K HDR monitor that isn’t going to break the bank, the Monoprice 27772 32″ is a deal you can’t pass up. Sure, Windows 10 still has some HDR issues but if you’re planning on using this for a console, especially the Xbox One X, it’ll definitely do the trick.
