There’s no question that streaming services are more popular than ever. While there are many new services arriving soon, Netflix still appears to be the most popular worldwide streaming video service. HighSpeedInternet.com has once again compiled a list of 40 Netflix shows, then used Google Trends to rank each of them across every state from in 2018 to find the most popular Netflix show in each one.
The top five favourite shows of 2018 in the United States were 13 Reasons Why (seven states), The End of the F***king World (six states), followed by Marvel’s Daredevil, Orange is the New
Connecticut, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, and Rhode Island all enjoyed 13 Reasons Why. On the other hand, states that gravitated towards The End of the F***king World the most include Arizona, Iowa, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Interestingly enough, Washington, D.C., had a 16-way tie according to HighSpeedInternet.com. Some of the shows enjoyed there include Black Mirror, House of Cards, Sense8, Jessica Jones, and GLOW.
While Orange is the New Black topped 15 states in 2017, it slipped to being the most popular in only five states this year. Of all the U.S. states, only four had the same favourite show as they did last year (Missouri, Louisiana, Utah, and West Virginia). As the report also shows, even though Marvel’s Daredevil was the most popular in five states compared to none last year, its increasing popularity couldn’t save it. Then again, the search results could have come after news the show was cancelled thus boosting its “popularity.” Also, it’s not really a surprise that Making a Murderer was the most popular Netflix show in Wisconsin.
