The Meizu Zero will cost you US$1,299 on Indiegogo

Bezel-free phones, notchless phones, headphone jackless phones, those are all the norm these days. But “holeless” (a lack of ports) phones are something new and we’re not sure if this is just a trend, or might become the standard. We do know that the Meizu Zero was announced a few days ago and it is indeed, holeless. We now know that you’re going to pay for the chance to own a holeless phone. The Meizu Zero is going to set you back a minimum of US$1,299.

The company has kicked off its Indiegogo pre-order campaign to raise money to put the Zero into production. Meizu says they have a deliver date of April 2019 for the Zero. Some of the features the company is touting on the Zero are:

  • No buttons, no speakers holes, no Sim card slot, no charging port
  • Three Dimensional Ceramic Unibody Design
  • Super mCharge Wireless – 18w
  • eSIM
  • 5.99-inch AMOLED
  • Snapdragon 845

The crowdfunding offers two option for perks: the Exclusive Engineer Unit at US$1,299 and an Exclusive Pioneering Unit at US$2,999, of which the Exclusive Pioneering Unit option is limited to only one unit. This unit has already been claimed. Once the Exclusive Pioneering Unit is pledged, it will be shipped within five working days. The shipping of the Exclusive Engineer Unit units will start once it hits the funding goal, and backers are expected to receive their orders in April.

A price tag of US$1,299 is a big chunk of change, although the most expensive iPhone XS Max is still more expensive. This should be an interesting phone to use and hopefully, we can get a review unit and we’ll certainly let you know if we do.

We’ve recently heard about several that we’ve written about that have failed or are having issues. Our reporting on crowdfunding campaigns does not mean we support or are affiliated with them. Support at your own risk.
