We are just a few short weeks away from Samsung’s San Francisco Unpacked event. At that event, we’re expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy S10 series of phones announced as well as the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The leaks and rumors for the S10 series have been coming fast and furious and the latest one seems to confirm that the Bixby button will finally be remappable. As always, take these leaks with a grain of salt, at least until Samsung confirms them in their announcements.
The Bixby button has been a source of debate as many do not use the service and wished the button could launch other features. The Galaxy S8 caught a lot of flack for this as did the Galaxy S9 and Note series of phones. Well, it seems that remappable feature may be coming to the latest Galaxy phones, at least according to one redditor.
Redditor u/imintheairportcoming claims to have had some hands-on time with the new phones and confirms that the Bixby Button is remappable, this coming from a Samsung representative.
Last I read people believed the S10E would have an in screen fingerprint reader, turns out it will be in the power button on the side. Reverse wireless charging is confirmed and I got to see it in action, It is amazing if the S10 is plugged in it will charge both devices at the same time at the same rate. Bixby button is re-mappable and the new UI is really an improvement. Anything else I can confirm? Oh and I don’t have an NDA so ask away.u/imintheairportcoming on Reddit
The idea that Samsung would allow remapping of the controversial button has been brought up in the past. Last year in August, CNET predicted that the company would put this feature in the S10 series. Other sites and tech analysts have also speculated that Samsung would finally give in and allow remapping.
If true, this should make plenty of users considering upgrading to the S10 series very happy. Samsung could also make a large number of current users happy if they brought the ability to current Galaxy phones through a software update. But let’s not put the cart before the horse.
