Crackdown 2 now backward compatible, better yet? It’s free!

Crackdown 3 was released just over a month ago with the original Crackdown being made backward compatible and free to download just prior to launch. Now gamers can complete the set as Crackdown 2 is now also backward compatible and, better yet, is free to download!

The news was delivered by Larry Hryb, a.k.a. Major Nelson, via Twitter yesterday.

The second in the series of open-world third-person shooters which has gamers running, jumping, and creating havoc as a super-powered Agency officer, Crackdown 2 was first released back in 2010. Unfortunately, and much like the recent Crackdown 3, reviews were mediocre as the sequels don’t really seem to offer up much more than the original. That being said, they’re still a lot of fun to sit down when you want a “mindless” gaming session and are just looking to cause some destruction and mayhem while leaping tall buildings in a single bound. O.K., maybe not single but you get the point.

As mentioned in the tweet, Crackdown 2 is available to download for free. There’s no word how long it will be available for free so if you’re thinking of playing it eventually, you may as well snag it sooner than later.

What do you think about Crackdown 2 being made backward compatible and free? Are you going to be downloading it and giving it another run through? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook, or MeWe.
