Noise cancelling headphones are some of the most sought after headphones out there. A good pair can cost a pretty penny and many of the inexpensive ones just don’t work as well. There are a few diamonds in the rough and ZVOX is hoping to be exactly that with their new AccuVoice AV50 noise cancelling headphones priced out at US$149.99.

ZVOX makes some really kick butt audio equipment and we’ve reviewed one of their sound bars in the past. So we’re expecting some decent sound from the new AV50’s. Of course, good noise cancelling is an art so we’re hoping ZVOX can get that in order as well. Their AccuVoice technology is supposed to “lift voices out of the background sound” so you can better understand TV and movie dialogue even at low volumes.

The AV50s offer unmatched music listening, immersive, realistic high-fidelity sound, including tight, accurate bass and pure sonic enjoyment. But that’s just the beginning. They also offer advanced noise cancellation technology that makes them indispensable for frequent travelers and on-the-go “road warriors.”

Two separate microphones constantly monitor external noises – and then use phase-reversal algorithms to negate or “cancel” those sounds. Noise from jet engines, wind, crowds, and air conditioners are all dramatically reduced or eliminated, making the AV50s the perfect travel or commuting companion.

In addition, the AV50s are great for TV watching, thanks to their AccuVoice technology which boosts voices and reduces unwanted noise. Even users with mild hearing loss can understand dialogue clearly, AccuVoice is particularly beneficial for watching movies and TV shows with poorly recorded dialogue or extremely loud special effects.

  • AccuVoice technology: The AV50s use ZVOX AccuVoice technology to give a boost to voices while they reduce unwanted noise. So you understand dialogue clearly, without having to turn up the volume.
  • aptX Bluetooth: You can connect AV50s using the supplied cord, or connect to your phone, tablet, laptop computer – even some TVs – using aptX Bluetooth technology.
  • Light and comfortable: The AV50s are lighter than many noise cancelling headphones — less than half a pound.
  • Hands free phone calls: The AV50s have a microphone in the right ear cup that allows you to make hands free phone calls with your cell phone. You hear the caller – but not the crowd around you.
