Production of the Harley-Davidson Livewire has been paused to investigate quality checks

The Harley-Davidson Livewire is the company’s first attempt at a consumer production electric motorcycle and it certainly looks great. We had the chance to check out the Harley-Davidson Livewire in person at CES 2019 and we were very impressed. But if you’ve been waiting for a Livewire to drop for purchase, you’ll have to wait just a bit longer.

According to Reuters, Harley-Davidson has halted production of the Livewire to investigate some quality checks in production. This could be something minor but it also could be something very major that might affect buyers who have been waiting for one of their own.

The motorcycle maker said it has discovered a “non-standard condition” with LiveWire, which it began shipping to its dealers late last month, prompting additional testing and analysis.

While the company said its testing is progressing “well,” it did not offer a timeline as to when the production will resume.

The Harley-Davidson Livewire has an estimated battery range of 110-miles, which is dependent on how aggressive you are with the throttle. The zero to sixty rating on the Livewire is 3.5-seconds and there is no clutch or gears so pull the throttle back and you’re gone.

To charge the Harley-Davidson Livewire you’ll use Level 1 charging which works with any household outlet. This charging method will take a bit of time to complete but you also have the option of finding a Level 3 DC fast charger which will top you up much faster. For most people, if you plug the Livewire in overnight it should be just fine.
