RCA was founded 100 years ago as the Radio Corporation of America and they’re still going today. The company is celebrating its centennial anniversary with the release of the RCA G2 smartphone with Android 9. This Android 9 smartphone clocks in at US$99.99, a price point that’s sure to appeal to a whole lot of people.

Not everyone is looking to jump into a pricey Google Pixel or Apple iPhone. Even with carrier lease plans easing the pain with monthly payments many just can’t justify the cost. So the RCA G2 does have a place in the market given its sub-US$100 price tag. Of course, don’t expect flagship specs at this price but you can expect at least sufficient performance for the very basics.

The unlocked, dual SIM 4G LTE RCA G2 Smartphone features a 5.5″ multi-touch HD screen and is powered by a 2,500 mAh Battery, allowing users to browse the web, stream music, watch videos, and play games for a reasonable amount of time. The smartphone’s built-in Android Pie 9.0 “provides users with easier access to their favorite content by offering a simpler, more personal, and helpful operating system.”

The G2 also sports 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space, which can be extended up to 128GB with a memory card. It is compatible with several mobile providers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Straight Talk, Cricket, Consumer Cellular, MetroPCS, Net10, and Pure Talk. With no contract required, an international version of the G2 is also available in 190 countries and regions including Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Venezuela, Argentina, and more.

With face detection and HD 1080p recording, the G2 is equipped with two HD cameras; an 8mp rear-facing camera and a 5mp front-facing camera. The phone comes with several standard accessories including a protective case, charge cord, headphones, a USB cable, and an attached screen protector.

The RCA G2 is available on Amazon now for US$99.99. What do you think of this budget smartphone? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, or Facebook. You can also comment on our MeWe page by joining the MeWe social network.
