Special tools such as the GrayKey device could access locked iPhones via USB and Restricted Mode is supposed to prevent that.
The update will require a user to input their passcode before they gain access to data transfer from the iOS device.
This new feature limits the usefulness of devices like GrayKey if the device hasn’t been unlocked or used in 7-days.
GrayKey will work until Apple finds a way to patch the vulnerabilities the device is exploiting. There’s no way of really telling when that will be.
