Amazon turned on Music Streaming for Prime members and instantly became the top company for music streaming. That’s right, Amazon has more paying subscribers than any other music streaming service including Spotify and Pandora. Amazon Prime subscribers have access to streaming video and free 2-day shipping on a plethora of items on Amazon.com for $99 per year. With the push of a button they also received a free streaming music collection including most songs released 6 or more months ago.
This is the first time ever that a drone has been granted the permission by the FAA to carry out a commercial mission. Two aircraft have gained the FAA’s certification, the Scan Eagle and Aerovironment’s Puma. Oil giant BP has been working with Aerovironment, a drone manufacturer, to fly an Aerovironment Puma AE on survey missions in Alaska. This decision comes about two years after congress mandated that the FAA construct a plan to incorporate unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into civil airspace before 2015. While there is still no provision for any UAS to operate over the continental US, the fact that there is now a precedent set for the flight of commercial drones will encourage new UAS to emerge in all industries where there is a reasonable use.

The Honeywell Lyric is the newest smart thermostat to be unveiled and is sure to turn some heads. It’s classic design coupled with the ease of installation and amazing capabilities are going to make the Nest thermostat look like more of a gimmick than anything. Honeywell has launched a website to promote their newest thermostat. The idea for the Lyric is based on the ability to control the thermostat with a smartphone with one huge amazing bonus feature: The thermostat recognizes a virtual fence around itself and when you bring your phone inside the fence it knows how to adjust the comfort level in your home so that you don’t have to do anything.
The New HP Chromebox is now shipping in the USA and that means there will be a lot more of Google’s Operating System in the wild. Since making their announcement in February, HP has been gearing up for the launch of this product. Classified as an ultra small form factor, the base model HP Chromebox sports an Intel® Celeron® 2955U Processor clocking in at 1.4 Ghz, support for dual displays, 2 GB of RAM, and a 16GB SSD for storage.
