Hangout Recap – Techaeris Chats With Zuul Labs

Zuul_Tall_Tails_Banner_1

Alex and I had the opportunity to speak with Rachel Valentine – Community Manager for ZUUL Labs.  ZUUL currently has their first game in Kickstarter, Tall Tails.  We posted a preview of Tall Tails last week, and it was great getting to talk to Rachel about the game’s progress.  As it stands right now, Tall Tails is 53% funded, with just over $80k of their requested $150k pledged with just under a week left.  We’d like to thank Rachel for chatting with us during what is a certainly a very busy time for her, and all of ZUUL Labs.

Kickstarter: Tall Tails By Zuul Labs

Zuul_Tall_Tails_Banner_1

You don’t necessarily think of game companies having a conscience, but Zuul Labs is looking to buck that trend. Zuul Labs is in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign for their new puzzle/adventure game: Tall Tails. Tall Tails is different from most other games and apps in that a portion of their proceeds from the game will be donated to help rescue dogs in need. Zuul certainly isn’t the first company to do something like this, but it’s definitely rare and refreshing to see. Read on to learn a little bit more about the team and their game.

Kickstarter: LifePrint WiFi Photo Printer

LifePrint

Today’s media is rapidly moving to the digital format, physical media is becoming increasingly used less and less. Music is downloaded and can be played through a myriad of devices. Movies and TV are now streamed through iTunes, GooglePlay and Netflix, even our personal videos are now living in digital format on YouTube. And while the age of physical media is drawing to a close, there will always be one form of media some people simply cannot live without, the physical photo.

Kickstarter: Planets³, A Voxel-Based World Building Game

Planets3_ConceptTree_high_rez_2

I was recently told about a Kickstarter campaign for Planets³, a game that was described to me as Minecraft/Terraria/Starbound mixed with deeper RPG elements inspired by games such as Mass Effect, Skyrim, and Zelda.  Having played all of those games for more hours than I can count, my interest was certainly piqued.

Review: Stinkyboard by Stelulu – PC Gaming With Your Feet

Stinky Logo

Are you ready to get Stinky?  I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into when I agreed to review the Stinky gaming footboard by Stelulu.  I must’ve missed their successful Kickstarter campaign last year, so I had to do a bit of research while I was waiting for my review unit to arrive.  The Stinky is a USB foot controller for PC – console models may be available in the future.  It currently allows any keystroke from the keyboard to be bound to one of four Cherry MX switches on the footboard.  I play a lot of PC games, and have feet, so I waited patiently for my Stinky to arrive.

Battery Life Sucks! Photonic Looking To Aid A Rarely Served Niche

battery-life

I’ve had the chance to direct some traffic in my days, and one thing that’s an essential part of every traffic control kit are those battery operated flashlights with cones on the end – marshalling wands.  Marshalling wands provide visibility for lowly mall security traffic control all the way up to ground traffic controllers at every airport around the world.  Some of these are simply Maglite flashlights with cones attached to the end, but most airlines and airports use purpose-built wands.  One thing that they all have in common?  They all use batteries.  Usually C or D cell, and they generally burn through them pretty quickly.

Kickstarter Review: Fuz Designs’ Everdock

Everdock

Kickstarter is an awesome way to discover new tech and after a successful venture with LimeAde I decided to show my support to another venture and invest in Fuz Design’s Everdock: Universal Dock.

While I am a proud owner of an HTC One, I am disappointed in the lack of accessories on the market for my handset.  From docks to cases, I was having a hard time finding something that catches my eye so when I came across Everdock, I was delighted.  This dock touts itself as universal catering to all devices by simply switching out the cord via the cable adapters.
