Google has just announced via Google+ that it has purchased music streaming service Songza. The purchase amount remains unknown at this time. Google has stated that Songza will continue to work for existing users and that they will be looking to integrate Songza features into Google Play Music.

Amazon turned on Music Streaming for Prime members and instantly became the top company for music streaming. That’s right, Amazon has more paying subscribers than any other music streaming service including Spotify and Pandora. Amazon Prime subscribers have access to streaming video and free 2-day shipping on a plethora of items on Amazon.com for $99 per year. With the push of a button they also received a free streaming music collection including most songs released 6 or more months ago.

Research Shows Movie Pirates Pay For Content While Music Pirates Less Likely

A new study found in the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics aimed to find the differences between people who pirate music online and those who pirate movies online. According to the study, those who pirate movies exclusively are very different than those who pirate music exclusively. The researchers claim that those who pirate movies are “less likely to stop paying for movies in addition to stealing them.” Which means they are coming to the opposite conclusion for those who pirate music only.
