Sundays are not a traditional deliver time for any parcel or mail service here in the United States. So it comes as a surprise that Amazon announced Sunday delivery via the most unlikely source you could think of, the United States Postal Service. This is quite a bold move for Amazon but it also makes a little sense. We’re not sure what the costs of operating on a Sunday will be to Amazon but they have likely crunched the numbers and feel there is a profit to be had here.
“Delivery on a Sunday would be very compelling for consumers. There are certainly people who decide not to make an order on a Friday because it won’t get there until Monday,” said Sucharita Mulpuru, a Forrester Research analyst.
Sunday Deliveries will begin November 17th in Los Angeles and New York City first. Amazon is hoping to roll out this program to Dallas, New Orleans, Houston and Phoenix by next year. This partnership may be a good thing for the USPS who have been struggling for the past few years. Hit the links below for more details and sources.
