The George Washington University walkable solar-paneled pathway at the Virginia Science and Technology Campus is a pretty neat little project. The walkway is fitted with solar-powered trellis and 27 slip-resistant semi-transparent walkable panels with photovoltaic technology which convert sunlight into electricity. The panels have a combined power of 400-watt peak capacity which lights the pathways 450 LED lights. Head over to the source articles for a bit more information on this project. We’re looking forward to alternative energy sources like these to be common place in the future (hopefully near).
