YouTuber Dom from macmixing was curious and got a little creative with an iPhone 6 dummy phone and a simulation. In his video below you’ll see iOS running on a iPhone 6 mock up, basically it’s the same iOS we know just scaled up to fit the higher resolution screen. Check out the video after the break.
As you can see the iOS version is the same iOS 7 running on current iPhone’s. Also, the simulation is not very high quality so don’t expect that to be what it exactly looks like. In the simulation you can see a good representation of what it would look like next to the iPhone 5s. Now, no one has given any hint as to what iOS 8 will look like, but we’re all expecting no major UI changes, which is a major disappointment. Apple has finally given in to the larger screen phone idea but may still be clinging to an outdated User Interface.
Of course we know nothing is for certain until Apple announces both iOS 8 and the iPhone 6. But early indications all point to iOS remaining as is with some enhanced apps and other new features but nothing that will impact it visually. As a user of iPhone and iOS, it’s my opinion that leaving the OS untouched visually will further push buyers away. Apple has longed thrived on their quality and hardware design. But there comes a time when people get tired of the same course and you have to give them something new. If that wasn’t true, we would all be driving the same cars, wearing the same clothes and using the same electronics from years ago. Seriously Apple, time for a refresh in software, let’s hope they bring it at WWDC. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
