SpaceX Launches AsiaSat 8 Into Orbit Successfully

|

Elon Musk and the crew from SpaceX have successfully launched AsiaSat 8 into orbit early this morning. AsiaSat is a satellite communications company and the Sat 8 adds to their inventory of satellites in orbit. The Sat 8 will provide TV, cell phone and internet to customers India, China and other countries in the region. The launch of Falcon 9 was aborted once one minute before liftoff due to some issues with the rockets first stage. All of that got ironed out and they were able to proceed as planned.

“We are excited that the AsiaSat 8 launch has achieved this significant milestone,” AsiaSat President and CEO William Wade said in a statement. “This is our first launch with SpaceX, we would like to thank them for their excellent work and effort in making today’s launch a success.”

SpaceX is one of the more exciting projects we like to follow here at Techaeris and we love to hear these success stories. Exciting to see the progress Musk and crew are making in these new waters of private space programs. What do you think of SpaceX and their mission? Are private space programs going to be succesful? Or do we need 100% government involvement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
